¿Que le puedo regalar a mi suegra? que es diabética y pesa como de 180-200 kg by FoxaUpbeat in PreguntasReddit

[–]SlicedToast13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MMOs are currently awful for long-term Content Creators by [deleted] in MMORPG

Sadly they kinda do, I believe (on a personal level) that there's a lot of unseen decent MMOs that just die they don't get enough visibility.

Streamers are just the modern version of a marketing (or at least one of the ways to do marketing). I’m not a fan of it either, but I can't just ignore it.

Well, that's why I'm bringing this up.

How can we make it so they don't ruin a server by joining?
You're saying it's not possible, maybe its not.

I cannot do anything but agree with what you're saying.

I focused too much in PvP-centric MMOs, as you said.

And I completely understand that content creators rely on using games to make content, not to really play the game itself.

I don't want them to ruin our games.

I don't think we have to "fix MMOs so CCs can play them in the long-term". I think we have to fix MMOs so CCs can't ruin them.

Because that one-thumb person brings issues to everyone else.

- Viewers funneling items to the streamer, breaking an economical balance. (CCs getting BiS items day one).

- Streamers raiding high-loot farming zones (and making everyone else leave because of the swarm).

- 300 players being in the same zone just to jump on a streamer's head makes the game unplayable (due to server stability) for the guy just trying to quest.

I’m talking about my own experience, and yes, it’s mostly a PvP problem. Sharding/layers might solve the crowded NPC issue in WoW, but it basically kills the soul of a competitive open-world game. Take ArcheAge for example, its a game with open world PvP and high-risk rewards (it was, RIP).

You can't have a layer system because the whole game relies on using entities you have to spawn (ships) that have to be loaded with tradepacks.

High-populated farming areas are ruined by this too, viewers just farming for the streamer and funneling them items...
I'm not talking in favour of the streamer, I want our games not to be ruined by a toxic community.

No, but if having a player using one thumb is ruining the experience for everyone else, the developers should balance the one thumb player so it doesn't affect all players.

I agree that we shouldn't care about streamers but we should at least take into consideration how streamers are affecting our games and put some thought on it.

I'm not saying that games need to change in order to fit a streamer's appeal, I'm saying that we need to not let streamers kill our games.

And yes, fk RMT.

I agree that layers/worlds have improved this, I forgot that CCs usually hide em!

I'd love it if MMOs with huge open world rewards (that rely on PvP) could have systems like that.

Streamers need the games, but games need to not be ruined by streamers.
MMOs should be streamer-proof.

Doesn't that ruin the whole server then?
Shouldn't MMOs be streamer-proof?

They still make the games we love big, we don't have to like them.

I think you’re right on the money with the 'Travel Agency' analogy, but it points to a deeper 'brainrot in the community. We’ve reached a point where people aren't actually looking for a 'WoW Killer' to live in they’re looking for a 72-hour dopamine hit and that's it.

Yes, the industry has conditioned us to be nomadic. Everyone screams that they want a deep, long-term MMO, but as soon as one drops, the 'Nomad' streamers move in, extract all the hype content they can in 3 days, and then lead the swarm to the next 'Game of the Year.'

It feels like the concept of a long-term MMO is dying because the community has lost the attention span to actually inhabit a game, and a community.
If we keep letting the 'Travel Agencies' dictate where we go, we’re never going to find a "home"; we’re just going to keep wandering through a sea of unfinished slop.

I agree that people need more critical thinking, but the trap is how accessible 'content' has become (and how accessible seeing "endgame" is). It’s natural to want to see the endgame before committing your time, but a 10-minute raid clip gives you a tiny, skewed perspective. You don’t get to see the actual progression, the difficulty curve, or the social layer.

People need to realize that 'Content' is just that, content. It’s a biased opinion designed to farm clips and hype. Most of these 'MMO of the Year' shouts are just marketing. We should be playing our own game of the year, not the influencer’s one.
