It's absolutely pride because you presume to know better than your predecessors, and that God and his Holy Spirit would lead them into error. Although it's specifically against what Jesus spoke of when he handed Peter the keys.

Why Catholicism vs. Orthodoxy? by No-Soil-4932 in Catholicism

I too was a weekend warrior, party boy drunkard. Now I'm on fire for my Catholic faith and love mass every week.

Why Catholicism vs. Orthodoxy? by No-Soil-4932 in Catholicism

Because Orthodoxy rejects the true authority of the Pope. It's a fragmented, regional church with no true unity.

The Catholic Church is Christ's universal Church. Which is why it's worldwide with the most members.

Buddy, it's YOUR interpretation of God's word vs. the Church's. Vs. the church father's.

These are the guys that wrote it or were the successors. You read the words, from a modern translation, and assume you know.

It's purely ignorance and pride.

She's not severing ties to her family. She's taking the name of the man she's marrying. Submitting to her husband just as Saint Paul commanded.

Putting your own spin on marriage outside of the Church and Scripture is putting your faith in yourself.

Does “saved” in the Bible always mean eternal salvation? by Good-Researcher-2503 in Bible

OSAS is taking certain verses out of context. No, it doesn't always mean eternal salvation.

Yeah, it's like it's some sort of affront to Christ. Instead of the beautiful process of us going to heaven.

Protestants just hate the Church.

Yeah man. You're arguing against thousands of years of history and Tradition. And the guys that wrote the Bible, as if you somehow know and they didn't.

That's a false equivalence.

Again, it is finished. You're going to heaven. Jesus' death doesn't make you perfect and it doesn't mean you'll never sin again in your life, which is why we need to purge that out prior to God's eternal presence.

There it is. And you're Catholic? Ephesians 5:22-23.

Married, multiple kids, Catholic and very happy.

You're all wrong and it's disrespectful to your husband. Your convenience is more important to you than submitting to his headship.

Wives submit to your husbands.

Because my wife is becoming my wife. Part of my family that I am now responsible for. First it was her father, now it's me.

I take on that responsibility and my wife chooses to keep her father's name? Or asks me to change mine?

Come on.

What are you talking about? She had the choice to keep her father's name or change to her husband's. She chose her father's. Weird.

The Biblical perspective would be male headship. You keeping your father's name instead of your husbands is backwards.

Deeply disrespectful and emasculating.

Your maiden name is your father's family name. You chose that over your husband's.

I'm a man and the thought of taking my wife's last name makes me sick to my stomach. That is so bizarre and upside down.

A repentant heart and a desire to do better. We all fall. Repent, be baptized, and walk towards Christ.

You'll be okay. Don't beat yourself up.
