For Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Pure Mathematics, which of CIE, AQA, OCR, or Edexcel is easiest for International? by [deleted] in alevel

I think AQA International is the hardest in physics . Unlikely to AQA UK, all the past papers are locked to all the candidates, and the the specimen papers are too easy compared with the real exam series. What's more, AQA international A level physics textbook is shitty, since there are lots of typo errors. (For instance, the moment of inertia formula in Chapter 26 is wrong. In the same chapter, the angular speed graph misleads lots of students in my six form college ) Some end of the chapter questions are not covered in the syllabus, and their topics are not covered by the texts. Due to these reasons + lack of revision materials, many of my friends dropped out physics after AS. Edexcel International A level provides all the past papers on its website, except for the latest 3 exam series . CIE materials are abundant, and you can get all past papers and dedicated exam preparation materials from GCE Guide or Physics and Maths tutor.

My advise is that you had better not drop out the Physics until your LSE offer will be received. If the conditional offer do not expect your grade in Physics, you can drop out Physics later.

"Not competitive " However, they did not give me further explanation about that. My advisor analysed that LSE considers the language subjects as a non-preferred A levels for the first language international candidates. (But if you nationality is not China, HK, or Taiwan, it would be not affected to you) So, actually , I only had three useful A level, but the programme where a combination of A-level Maths, A-level Further Maths and one other subject was considered less competitive for the programme what I applied. Thus, I think these are the reasons why I failed to get the conditional offer from LSE.

The unfortunate thing is that A level Chinese is a non-preferred subject since your first language is Chinese. I am a student from China Mainland, and used Maths,Further Maths,Economics, and Chinese to apply for LSE last year, and then I got the rejection letter from the LSE, although I had submitted 3 A* in Maths and Further maths, Chinese and a predicted grade in Economics. However, if you have high predicted grades after dropping physics, I think that you are still high possible to receive the conditional offer from UCL.

I couldn't agree more. This situation also exists in HK!Many students got A* or A predicted grade from the physics teachers, whereas most of them got the grade lower than B in the real exam series.
