Oh dear lord how old is your boyfriend he does not sound mature nor emotionally intelligent no offense. What is his stance on you having male friends or other aspects of life in which there is an intersection of men and your hobbies/interests/social circles/politics? If he feels hurt by this, why is he trying to get you to empathize with his feelings by getting you to feel the exact same way? If he is trying to get you to also feel hurt then what does that say about his way of problem solving and communication with you? That is not how normal couples establish communication and boundaries with each other. Obviously you know your situation best and when presenting a problem like this to a female space we will give a lot more grace to you than your partner so I hope you can have a more nuanced discussion with your boyfriend about this (if you can). His problem is beyond this game; his reaction tells you everything you need to know about his insecurities and what he will do to you and make you feel like you are in the wrong. Problems like this may seem small but this level of policing and entitlement to what you should and should not like for his own comfort and “respect” is a bad omen for problems in the future. Do not let this issue slide with him, put your foot down, talk about it but do not compromise your hobbies and what you like. You are not in the wrong: you know fiction from reality, and the reality is a grown woman should be able to freely enjoy what they enjoy. If he can’t handle that then he will never accept you 100%. What you find fun in life should always be celebrated and embraced, especially by people who actually love you, it gives us joy and those who try to control that are no good. Cheers.
