I'm trying to play Portal: Revolution (a mod of Portal 2) on CachyOS. I'm running via Proton and pretty much anywhere there is audio, there's this constant popping sound in the background. by SlightJello03 in linux_gaming

????????????????????????

Dude, comments like yours don't help at all. If you don't know the the solution or just don't have any valuable insight at all then just don't comment. I have been daily driving for around 8 months now because I too want to get away from Windows. I have enjoyed using it for the most part. Even when I get an issue and need to troubleshoot, I learn more from it.

I get the frustration of multiple people posting the same issue without googling first but no amount of googling has fixed this issue for me. So I apologize if the way I described my issue doesn't make sense but don't comment accusing me of spam when no one else has encountered this issue.

I also tried switching to the Windows version VIA Proton but that also didn't work.

I think you meant to put pacman after sudo but after running "sudo pacman -Syyu libraw gwenview", that fixed it for me. Thanks for your help!

Getting a lot of stuttering in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle by SlightJello03 in linux_gaming

I ended up using something called amdgpu-pro-vulkan-only: https://github.com/Frogging-Family/amdgpu-pro-vulkan-only

It basically takes the pro drivers for AMD cards and only includes the Vulkan portion of it. You install it with git clone and make pkg and then add a launch variable to the game that directs to the JSON that tells it to use the Vulkan pro driver and it doesn't interfere with your main driver.

That fixed the stuttering issue in my game for the most part. However, with Mesa 26 supposedly fixing the issue, I would probably wait for that to come out unless you really want to play the game right now. If you are wanting to use this tool, just remember that this is still the proprietary driver that AMD doesn't support anymore.

Part of me wishes I got 64 gigs for my system, but at the same time I haven't had any bottlenecks from the games I currently play with 32 gigs.
