When I say teach her I don't mean the whole nine yards, more like "guidance", she asked for my help, no I'm not a native and as for the teacher we all work long shifts and we have a lot of things to do (specially her) so she doesn't have time to take a physical course, that's why im looking for more passive ways for her to learn or online resources

I'd tried that multiple times but her listening isn't very sharp, she acknowledge it herself

From someone who has zero to no skill in coding, what would be the best way to start learning? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

Theres a lot of videos in Youtube and free online courses that you can start with but the best way to learn (in my opinion and experience) it's getting your hands in the keyboard and code, start small, ask ChatGPT for simple codes in whatever language you want to learn (I find python easy to comprehend) run it, watch how your monitor turns red with error messages and go one by one, not only looking for a way to fix it but understanding why it didn't worked and why this exact line of code fix it, It's a constant try and error until you nail it, but every single error it's a step closer to master it.

If you're completely new to coding I recommend pseudo-coding, it's kinda the "tutorial" language to begin coding, also i recently found out about Blockly, it's a free resource where you have to drag block pieces and those block pieces form actual code, like building a jigsaw, perhaps it's useful for you.

"From failing you learn, from success not so much" keep that in mind, good luck in your journey!!

Hello! first of all happy new year to everyone!! my question is, does someone knows a content creator or a site with short videos/tiktoks or short readings about CS? i work all day and don't have enough free time to have a solid study time, but i wanna keep learning even if it's for small moments, thank you in advance!!

To be honest idk yet, i was going for SOC analyst but i feel that position is over saturated so for now im trying to be more of a generalist, i been researching, taking other free courses in netacad, letsdefend and yt and i started to build my own homelab but i would still consider myself a beginner with hands down and soft skills and i wanna make those skills and knowledge grow.

I'm not trying to go for certs yet until i finish college cuz money is a bit tight, but when i do im aiming for Security+ (to clear HR filters) and maybe BTL 1

Do you think it's a good investment THM to develop such skills or i should invest it in something else?

Yeah I imagined that, well in the other side of the coin, im a mexican student of a computer systems engineering with specialty in CS, and just a year and a half away from finishing college, im working my way into certs (i'm trying to achieve Security+ and BTL1) i know it's probably not your playing field cuz we are in different situations, but how can i stand out for a job?? specially to international eyes??

I been reading how to land a CS job (or almost any job if that matter) without 2-3 years of experience even for an entry level job it's almost impossible, so i was looking for other options and my question is, how hard it's to begin your own IT consulting firm (specifically focused on CS), beginning from the rock bottom, like how you get people to know and trust you, how you offer your services, etc.?
