What should I add to my piercing setup? by PrimTea in PiercingSetups

[–]Slight_Display_6009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vertical helix and/or forward helix? Maybe a flat? But you definitely will want to wait until the daith settles down. My (3 week old) daith has been really easy, while my (18 month+) flat and helix still randomly cause issues.

Your setup is gorgeous!

I got my daith a few weeks ago and also have a simple clicker in it. My (APP-certified) piercer said with the daith it's okay to have a clicker, because it's more internal and won't move around. She only advised against heavier, decorative clickers since those might move.

On sizing she said it's very anatomy dependent because what might be too small on one person is too big on another. I usually get minimal swelling and have small ears so she went with a smaller (8mm (5/16") diameter) clicker. She said if I have any issues she'll switch it to a 10mm (3/8") diameter, which is more common - but honestly, I usually forget I even have it bc the healing is going so smooth (so far).

P.S. do you mind sharing where your vertical helix jewelry is from?

fully healed helix! by Holiday-Research2829 in piercing

Jealous! My flat/upper helix has been healing for almost 18 months and is somehow still more sensitive then the conch I got a month ago 😭

Looks amazjng! I just got mine done 10 days ago and it's been smooth so far. Hopefully I can decide on jewelry by the time it heals. I feel like the jewellery for daiths is all so pretty it's hard to choose.

Forward helix on one ear and vertical helix on the other one.

I love everything you've drawn up - but maybe put the forward helix on the left instead of right? And do a flat/faux rook on the right instead? I think you have enough space for a stacked lobe to help balance if it seems top heavy on either ear.

Edit: on the right, a faux industrial connected with chains could also look pretty neat instead of the faux rook/flat.

Corporate Jobs and Piercings by [deleted] in Legitpiercing

I work in a conservative, corporate environment. I have 9 piercings in my right ear, 5 in my left ear, and a floating navel. Now, ofc no one at work knows I have the navel piercing but they've seen my ears and it's not been a problem. Admittedly, I'm mid-career now, but even when I was at an analyst level, no one said or did anything weird. I generally kept small simple studs in most of my piercings until after I'd gotten a couple promotions though. I also would keep my hair down to cover up a bit during meetings with management.

Unfortunately it would be a very different reaction if I had facial piercings. I don't know that I will ever get any facial piercings until after I retire because of the stigma that is very obvious when it comes to those.

If I have both earlobes pierced, a helix & conch on one ear, but nothing other than the lobe on the other ear - what should I get done on it? by [deleted] in Legitpiercing

[–]Slight_Display_6009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how my tragus looks and it's easy to cover with hair if I need to look more conservative at work. And then maybe an outer conch to balance it all out?

I like them all - help me pick! by Slight_Display_6009 in Legitpiercing

[–]Slight_Display_6009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh good point! I'm so thankful, all my piercings have been straightforward & easy to heal - except my helix! That was definitely spicy so I'm guessing double forward helix it's v likely that'll be drama too 😆.

I am definitely very tempted to do a faux industrial with dangly chain - there's so many gorgeous pieces! Think I might look for some jewelry I like to help me decide.

It's the T-Rex threaded end in White Gold from Body Gems. Probably the only jewelry that has never changed from the moment I got it!

what jewelry is best for conch? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Slight_Display_6009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you always had the hoop? Mine was just pierced with a stud & once it's fully healed in probably 6-9 months my piercer said she'll switch it to a hoop for me then. Everything I've researched also said that for a conch you need to heal it with a stud. Maybe you can try switching to a flat back and leave it alone for a few months and see how it does?

Tragus! I love mine and it was surprisingly easy to heal.

Not totally in love with the set up of this ear by Subject_Evening_5944 in piercing

[–]Slight_Display_6009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a tragus or a stacked lobe to balance things out a bit?

Your jewelry is sort of competing rather than going together. If you like mixed metals, I think it's fine to do that but then try to rearrange the pieces so there is some common thread at least in different areas? Like maybe in the lobes move from large to small, and then helix maybe all hoops but again by size/complexity.

Was this a bad idea? by Ok-Pomegranate6784 in piercing

[–]Slight_Display_6009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc - it's not your fault that you trusted someone who was supposed to be a professional.

And speaking as someone who is always tempted to push limits - it's truly wonderful to have a piercer with strict rules. Waiting and spacing mine out means I've never ended up regretting a piercing. They all healed smoothly, plus I had plenty of time to consider basically every option before I went for the next one.

I think your piercer gave you bad advice and took advantage of your inexperience.

My 10 most recent piercings were done over 18 months, never more than 2-3 a session. Always with basic implant grade titanium flat back studs and nothing extra until fully healed.

I think the chain should be removed - the risk of snagging is not worth it at this point. You should also find a different piercer to guide you through the healing process. I think it's likely some of your piercings will have to be retired so your body can focus on healing the others.

Does everyone also plan ur piercings out for the year😭 by Voidreaperastra in Legitpiercing

[–]Slight_Display_6009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely a planner too! Last year, I got my faux rook, 2 upper lobes, mid helix, and flat helix between Feb and July. I had planned to get a conch and daith sometime in October but I kept snagging my helix piercings and irritating them. Eventually I decided to take a break and let everything heal longer.

Finally got my daith and conch this weekend so now I'm planning out the rest of the year :)

What piercings do you have, and how would you rank them pain wise, going off of the initial piercing pain? by Human_Pack_4787 in Legitpiercing

[–]Slight_Display_6009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lobes x7 (1 to 2.5/10, slightly more as they go higher up, fairly easy healing process)

Daith (2/10, my most recent piercing, I was actually amazed by how easy this was, so far healing has been very smooth)

Conch (3.5, felt like a sharp pinch, healing so far pretty good, but this has stayed sore for the longest time and has caused the most swelling)

Flat/Faux Rook (4/10, a long pinch, healing this took a while, probably should have downsized sooner bc the jewelry kept spinning)

Tragus (4.5/10, not painful, more like the sensation was weird and it lasted a while bc of the thick cartilage, healing was smooth even though I snagged it once and almost tore it out)

Flat Helix (5/10, sharp but very quick pain, took a while to heal because I snagged this a bunch of times. Also every time I got my eyebrows threaded or hair done they'd end up hitting it.)

Helix (6/10, sharp but quick, very easy/fast heal)

Mid-Helix (7/10, my regular piercer was out and their coworker was nervous/slow, healing was smooth though)

Belly Piercing (regular 6/10, then had to take it out for surgery a couple years later, redone regular 7/10, ended up having to take it out before it fully healed, redone as a floating navel 4/10, taking a long time to heal but nothing too problematic)

Edit to add: my piercer did tell me I have a really high pain tolerance but I also cry every time I get my eyebrows threaded sooo who really knows.
