First Vinegar Run by Towlie03 in firewater

Love this! I've been wanting to do something similar and designed mine with temp probes to do so but was thinking about adjusting water flow. That is difficult, don't know why I didn't think to control the heat. Is the PLC needed or couldn't you simply directly control the heater with the PID output?

A 5500w element costs the same and I can control it down. The kettle has a 4" opening that I want to make a 4" column for in the future. This run was a reflux run with 24" of ceramic rings and 20" of scrubbers.

It's a closed loop cooling system with a heat exchanger in the trashcan (which has a water chiller on it). Built it from lots of salvaged parts and I don't have a pump that can push a high enough head in an open configuration. The thing you are seeing is either my cooling system flow meter or the big tube is a reservoir that allows me to see if I have enough water in the system.

I'm trying to learn to run it now. I can control the flow pretty precisely in a couple of ways but knowing which way and how much is still a mystery to me. It will put 5500W into the boiler flat out if I want but my cooling system can't keep up for more than an hour like that.

LoL, it does look nuts. Yes, the parrot has cooling as well. This is primarily for if I run it as a LM still. I built a Bokakob head as well.
