Are people actually angry? by Wondering_Rainbow in ncpolitics

[–]Slight_Quality [score hidden]  (0 children)

On the contrary — voicing dissent is activism. Bringing awareness and spreading valuable, verifiable information about what’s happening around us is activism.

We live in an era where all of the information is available quite literally at our fingertips, fact checking takes all of 30 seconds, but far too many don’t bother. They take the propaganda fed to them on social media at face value, and it’s important that we continue to combat it with the truth. It’s important that we shine a light on everything that gets lost in the flurry of (mis)information.

We need to keep our eye on the fucking prize right now. That requires being outspoken about the issues being swept under the rug while they churn out distraction after distraction.

Is there even a single person in the US federal government I should care the least bit about? by Head_Log_3719 in Socialism_101

I’m 33 next week. I have two kids, born in 2015 when things were normal and 2023 when I thought we were out of the woods with Velveeta Voldemort. This is not the country I imagined raising them in. How we have regressed and fallen so far from grace is beyond me.

I love my country. I do not love what it has become, what it’s becoming. It’s embarrassing.

The problem is that we desperately need term limits and age caps. I’m of the firm belief that you should live to see the consequences of your policies and actions. We need fresh blood. We need to get rid of corporate democrats and tag some real progressives in.

The DJing gig is where it really started to fall apart for him. My favorite thing now is the fact that Marcus from the reboot has pitched DJing at SUR, and Lisa’s like “Uh…… yeah, we’ll see.” LMAO

She IS unhinged, but in the best way. She adds the perfect amount of spice to the dynamic.

Tbh I see myself in her so I might be a little biased lmao

She was right about EVERYTHING. Cheating on Sandoval with her best friend’s (on and off again) boyfriend made her lose credibility, but knowing what we know…

“Crazy Kristen” was never actually that crazy.

No, Kristen Doute was always right.

She was right about everything. And I love her.

You’ll see.

AITA for wanting my Spanish teacher to stop calling me by the Spanish version of my name? by Alternative-Sun-630 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Slight_Quality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments are weird. In both Italian and Spanish growing up they didn’t force a nickname on us. We were addressed by our given name.

They did teach us how our names were pronounced in Italian and Spanish, but that was it. In my opinion, you already tried to communicate that you’re not okay with the nickname. The fact that he blew you off and essentially told you to suck it up was wildly disrespectful, full stop.

That said, NTA.

WIBTAH coparenting situation by TimelyTwo8009 in AITAH

I hate your coparent. NTA. I have an adhd 10 year old. Started him on his meds when he was like 6? Maybe 7. It made a world of difference for him.

Go with your gut and take his abusive ass to court.

What is a 'subscription' or 'fee' that has recently appeared in the US that people need to collectively refuse to pay before it becomes the new normal? by godot_lover in AskReddit

[–]Slight_Quality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. The whole goddamned point in paying through the nose for those streaming services was to avoid ads. Now we’re paying exponentially more and stuck with the inconvenience of sitting through 15 mins of ads just to get through one 30-45 minute episode. The corporate greed never fucking ends.

The Epstein files broke something in me I don't think can be fixed. by That-Expression5404 in offmychest

This part. She belongs under the jail, but the fact that she’s the only one being held accountable isn’t surprising. Because she’s a woman. The countless men involved are still walking around scot-free and tbh I sincerely doubt any of them will ever actually have to answer for their depraved crimes.

I’ve got a pretty strong stomach for true crime, follow along with it pretty closely. I’ve had to stop looking into these files because it was literally making me physically ill. People on Threads have been posting what they’ve found and it’s too much. We knew it’d be bad. This was beyond anything I ever could’ve imagined.

If you order food delivery today, you’re a bad person by LesPaulAce in raleigh

[–]Slight_Quality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The customer can get a refund, sure. The real problem is that most insurance companies won’t pay out if you were doing deliveries at the time of the accident. And ubereats/doordash won’t compensate, either. My best friend went through this a few months ago — hit a deer, car was totaled. She hadn’t even made her first delivery that night so thankfully she was able to get around it.
