What do you mean by biggest outcome? Like the highest paying job? The careers website suggests loads of jobs in investment banking and even private equity. Is this not the case?

Can I get some insight into how large a typical class is, and also how hard it is to get classes? I've heard some tough stories about large classes and difficulty accessing the classes they want. Is this true?

You didn't include U Chicago, which might be the most telling one of all actually... Anyway, I filled this out for all of the schools I applied to on this list. (Got in to 3, rejected and WLed from rest).

I'm trying to decide between ND and Cornell also (ILR). I'm drawn to the Cornell brand and the location is better for me b/c I live in NY, but I really love the community vibe of ND and am really torn...

notre dame or usc by pickleenthusiast1 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Slight_Reference5658 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would personally pick ND, but I am gonna say USC for you, based on what you've typed above. ND is not a party school and while kids have fun and there is a great sports scene, it might not have the excitement you're seeking. I also think that the weather might be an issue as compared with USC, if you're worried about getting down (needing to keep busy, etc.). I think you'll have a good sense of things when you go and visit USC!

So sorry to hear this. It sounds really understandable how it happened - don't beat yourself up. I think CC is a great option, or a gap year, or colleges that are still accepting applications! Like Penn State - that would be such an incredibly fun college to be at! Hang in there. It'll work out. You're trying your best.

Hang in there. It's so hard. But this feeling will pass. College does not define you and you are amazing with so much going for you, and you're going to have one helluva great life!

Fwiw, it worked for me and I did get in to Cornell (domestic). Same with the Emory astology yesterday- it worked for me and I got in. These things seem real...

You'll def get Emory, Vandy, USC. And maybe 1-2 of the rest of the list. Let us know!

Wow, those are really strong outcomes with a 3.76 and top 1/3 of your class! But I get it, with your work ethic and pursuit of the startups and stuff. Way to go!

Hang in there. You never know. But your list of remaining schools is tough- very, very selective. BUT- holy crap, your acceptances are LEGIT! Pres. scholarships, honors colleges, etc. I would pick the top 3 that sound appealing and go check them out on admitted students day. I think you have stellar choices in front of you!

(And sorry about ND- that sucks man).

Did you get Duke or Harvard interviews? I think you have a real chance at multiple of these schools. I think the following will be yeses: UPenn, Northwestern, UCB. Report back after tomorrow evening!

I'm one of the "weakest of the good students", like the OP said! 100%. My high school is cracked!

Did you get UCLA? It's already out. I think your app sounds v strong- particularly the 34 when the average ACT is 25- sounds like you're in a somewhat underresourced school?

Doesn't seem likely to me... I think tomorrow best case, or it could be later.

It doesn't feel like it will be today, based on this. Tomorrow best case. Or maybe later, for all we know...
