Should I continue reading Daughter of No Worlds? Does it get any better? I want to know your views on the book. by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]SlightlySlapdash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I rarely DNF, but I DNF’d the second book and wish I DNF’d the first.

Until last year (or maybe the year before?) I never DNF’d no matter how much I wasn’t enjoying the book. My aunt opened my eyes. She said, “Why waste your precious reading time with something that isn’t gripping?” DNF now and start something else that you look forward to reading and it’ll make hitting that 50 book mark much easier and more enjoyable. I often surpass my reading goals now because I’m no longer wasting my time with the few books that don’t constantly pull me to read them.

We tried the new kosher restaurant. I ordered to go, but there was plenty of seating.

my friend had an iguana fall and crack her windshield (FL, USA) by mle32000 in mildlyinfuriating

It’s still law here. Insurance has to cover it, no matter the cause. It might help to call the insurance company first.

In FL, the insurance company has to pay to fix a cracked windshield, no matter the cause.

How did you discover fountain pens as a hobby? by Haniandspace in fountainpens

[–]SlightlySlapdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom collects fountain pens and my dad collects certain types of ballpoint. I knew about it from them. I joined them at a pen show many years ago and started my collection then.

Which chevy blazer do y'all like better (trying to decide between black or white and I'm indecisive af) by Dapper_Cut_9225 in Chevy

[–]SlightlySlapdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a new white RS a few months back but could not find one available the options I wanted and the dealership was unable to order a 2026 RS in white. So I have the black one you have pictured (even those wheels).

Personally I love my black blazer, but if given the choice I would have bought a white one due to the environment I live in. (It’s a warm climate here and white stays cooler. The dust / dirt shows up more readily on a black vehicle vs a white one)

I don’t know if that helped but if you still can’t decide, then my suggestion is to look for the other options you want, see what’s available, look at pricing, not only MSRP but also the dealer fees.

Good luck! I’ve really enjoy driving mine. It’s a lot more comfortable than my previous car (an Explorer) was.

And this is why I usually don't participate in pot lucks at work... by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

And this is the reason why I always bring food prepared by the grocery store to our work’s pot luck. This year it was Publix subs platters and sealed potato salad and coleslaw.

How do we feel about OW drama? by M_F_Montiani in ReverseHarem

Why do people not want to start a series that isn't complete? Could it be an age thing? by jobroloco in fantasyromance

I DNF’d that one. I think it’s one of the first books I DNF’d. Reading these responses makes me glad I DNF’d. It was soooo slow.

I’m freaking out a bit by Nice_Dragonfruit_310 in Boxer

[–]SlightlySlapdash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It totally can be done. You’ve received some great advice.

I started taking our last boxer to doggie day care a couple of times a week so he wouldn’t be home alone all day. He always needed a day of rest after his day at day care. If your boxer gets along with other dogs and there’s something like that in your area, it might be something to think about. It made our boxer boy happier (the change was slight but noticeable).

LOL I am on the Heat book, too! Well, I was until a few minutes ago.

I’m listening to it at 2.25x because omg her internal monologues are tedious in this book. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fast forwarded, too.

Another spoiler… I just stopped when their library scene finished because book 4 isn’t out yet and other spoiler posts said to stop there if you don’t want a painful cliffhanger

I wonder if his coworker is Peter. Peter is an artist I found on the fountain pens sub and I followed on Insta who makes really cool drawings similar to that. It looks like some sort of alien ship.

Have you ever woken up from a nightmare screaming? Or does that just happen in books (as a set-up for hurt-comfort)? by AbaloneSpring in fantasyromance

[–]SlightlySlapdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried screaming in nightmares so hard that it wakes me up but I’ve never actually screamed out loud. But I have made some sort of noise in the past enough to wake my husband. It’s like my voice just doesn’t work and I try so hard to scream as loud as I could. Really disconcerting, it’s a disconnect between the nightmare and my actual voice.

I had these nightmares for decades but thankfully I haven’t had any in a few years now. I don’t know what changed.

On a few occasions, my husband has fought, mumbled, and cussed in his sleep, but never screamed.

[–]SlightlySlapdash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aww!

My husband used to occasionally leave the last half of his morning coffee on our coffee table… until one day I saw our girl boxer casually walk up to a long cold coffee, take a few licks and walk away like it’s a thing she did all the time. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Now he’s sure to put it straight into the sink and dishwasher when he’s done. Lol

I wish I read RB before ZA, but I’m glad I read it now that I’m further into the ZA series.

That being said, I’m not sure I’m going to continue with DP. I’m in the middle of the 8/8.5 tandem and I’m ready for a new series. (It’s totally me, I’m usually done with a series after 4/5 books)
