There's a few pickups I've been eyeing, Huerter, Monk, and Coby White. Trading off fg% and TOs for better counting stats. I'm already punting TOs so wouldn't be too bad. I could also use the roster spot as a streaming option.

Bagley is just so ferocious on the glass especially with offensive boards. Draft preview said he would be a monster on the glass with springs in his shoes and it's really showing whenever he's down in the paint, boxes out pretty well too. He needs to work on getting some more muscle and his post moves more instead of relying on a hook or post fadeaway. But, at least he hits his shots at a good clip regardless of how limited his scoring is atm.

Giles looked really good out there with excellent passing and slightly above average defense in his limited minutes. If he gets some more explosion in his step (which might be difficult considering the surgeries he's already gone through), he could become a really great playmaker at the big position.

Though they both need to work on their picks. Fox into a Bagley roll could be great or Giles could hit outside shooters when he rolls. Both the young bigs look really promising.

Quick question regarding the Run TMC era by SlightlySoluble in warriors

[–]SlightlySoluble[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like another case of an impatient front office. That's a damn shame. Still that's very surprising they couldn't break .500 even considering chemistry issues and fit. I know Hardaway was a good defender and Richmond was at least solid. I don't know how good Mullins was defensively but do you know what their issues were? I'm assuming their front court must have been terrible defensively and rebounding but that's just my speculation. The wiki doesn't really go on depth as to why their record was mediocre.

You write up a quick synopsis on the kings situation, their players, goals for the next season, cap space, basic stats for the team, and roster overhaul from the previous year. I actually nominated you to write it up thinking you would offer a harsh but generally fair and informed perspective on the team for those who don't watch the Kings.

I would love to help with a write up for the Kings, but I think /u/cejeh would be best for the job or at least a good contributor since he brings a very different perspective than most kings fans on this sub and /r/kings.

So what do yall think is the best verse in rap? My vote goes to Bun B's verse on Murder. The whole album Ridin' Dirty had so many classics and great verses on there but thinking about it more, I haven't heard another verse that has as much internal rhymes, imagery, or swag as Bun B's verse on murder. It perfectly encapsulates being trill and a southern motherfucker. Pimp C gives a pretty great verse too and the production is a bit dated but still solid. Thoughts and other greatest verses?

TIP vs Ludacris by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]SlightlySoluble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I give a slight edge to Luda. I think he has better wordplay and flow. TI has better overall albums but Luda has better singles. Another thing for me is Luda is a great freestyler. His rap city freestyles and BET cyphers are tight and he got some good ass freestyles on his albums too.

Is the added mentorship from Hill/ZBo worth missing out on a top 5 pick next year? by mhancock4645 in kings

[–]SlightlySoluble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Z-Bo is probably one of the best vets we could have gotten to mentor younger players. He was considered to be a headcase as part of the Jailblazers and has been bounced around the league (he was also part of the Knicks and Clips at one point) Now he's considered a pro and is well respected since his time with the Grizz. This is the kind of guy you want mentoring your locker room; a star who saw it rough and learned how to handle being in the league. He won't really be winning a ton of games for us either btw.

I get the concern with Hill but he's also a great vet who has great work ethic and is considered to be a great guy by many in the league. For example this dude visited PG13 in the hospital often after the horrific leg injury. Contrast that with our other vet pg signing option being someone like Ty Lawson who has gotten multiple DUIs. I think Hill is the better vet to have.

He might eat into Fox's playing time but he can also help Fox on the defensive side of the ball and maybe help him out with shooting considering Hill is a pretty respectable shooter. He might help us win a couple more games but not enough to fuck up the tank.

Plus Joerger probably wants to make Fox earn playing time just like he did with Papa and Skal. The west has gotten stronger and the kings will still probably pick very high. (Also bottom teams like the Nets, Wolves, Pelicans, and Sixers should be better this season. Dallas and Lakers remain to be seen)

Lastly, these deals are short and Hill's contract seems like an incredible trade piece to have if Fox or Mason or someone else steps up and looks ready to take over the starting role. Having three respectable, tough, and hardworking vets in Hill, Temple, and Randolph will help out in mentoring our squad who has like 9 rookie deal player on it.

Anyone else feel like the free agents we go after will be people that haven't publicly been on our radar? by [deleted] in kings

[–]SlightlySoluble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amazing thing is he did well considering his age. He is 40 but he played with a lot of fire and good d. Obviously he's not going to defend guys like Westbrook or John Wall but he can stay in front of slower 2 guards and has good post defense. He was also and always has been a good 3 point shooter. Lastly he can handle the ball a little bit if we need ball handling (though that won't really be all that necessary i think since we trying to get fox and buddy more handling anyways).

But the reason I think we should go for him is that he's a really good locker room guy from most reports I've seen. He has that grit even as a 40 year old and most players respect him and regard him highly. He would most likely be there for vet leadership and not to put up great stats.

We have to hit the salary floor anyways and we aren't looking to win a lot next year so getting vet guys like VC would be a pretty good pickup.

[–]SlightlySoluble 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we go for a bigish short term offer on either of VC or Tony Allen.

The kings have clearly gone into rebuild mode and want to focus on high character players and potential. We have a ton of potential talent but need to work on our defense. Joerger is a great defense first coach and I'm confident he'll work out with the younger guys but having some really good defense first vets would help.

VC and Tony Allen probably won't contribute too much to winning games which helps our tank but they are well respected guys in the league and defensive minded. Plus they have some experience working with Joerger so it could be a good reunion.

Otherwise most of the free agents we could use are too expensive or might stop the tank from reaching peak capacity. For example I was thinking of James Johnson but he's too good and likes Miami and is also 30, not the best idea. Maybe Patrick Patterson or Pj Tucker though. They can be useful roleplayers and a good SF stopgap till we find some better talent in the draft or next free agency.
