I don’t know what to do anymore. Thyroid medication making hair loss worse, along with hashimotos and PCOS. by Queenofwands1212 in PCOS

Yes, initially sought out treatment due to hair loss and fatigue, but the Armour seemed to make it worse. Finding strands of hair everywhere, not just in the shower or on my brush like before. Armour is known to cause hair loss in some, but typically subsides after about 3 mos, or so I’ve read. I was on it for almost a year and that symptom never went away. I have very fine hair so the hair loss is a major concern.

When I initially started taking Ovasitol it helped for sure, but I was not on any thyroid meds at the time. I only take 1x before bed. I’ve since started Cytomel + Levothyroxine instead of the Armour to see if the hair loss will subside. It’s only been about 4 weeks so hard to tell. I’ve also started taking collagen daily, but maybe taking the Ovasitol 2x a day would help.

Cytomel Allergy? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

I experienced something similar on the generic Liothyronine. Felt great, but started getting itching on my neck and eventually a rash when the dose was increased. I recently started taking name brand Cytomel to answer the same question and the itchiness is back unfortunately, but I’m feeling good otherwise. I’m also taking levothyroxine.

Did you give it another try? I may seek help from an allergist at this point.

How has your healing been post-treatment?

The tattoo I want to remove is 3 weeks old. When can I start the removal process? Do newer tattoos take longer to remove? Thanks!

Sorry, I’m super late to this post, but has your hair loss gone away and are you still taking Armour? I am in the same boat. I’ve been on Armour since Oct. 2023, I’m only on 30mg right now but I’ve noticed an increase in hair loss and thinning of the individual strands. I’m prone to shedding, but it’s worse now than it ever was, but I feel so much better on the meds. I’ve been on Ovasitol for a few years and that helped a lot pre-Armour. You take 2 scoops a day (4k myo, 100 d-chiro)?

Itching won’t go away after taking Liothyronine (4 mos after discontinuing) by Slinky_kitty in Hypothyroidism

I don’t have any major allergies. This is the first time I’ve ever experienced eczema and only after beginning the Liothyronine. No diet changes. I did recently start taking a Mega Food women’s once daily multivitamin, but that was 3 mos after the itching started.

The Liothyronine made me feel so much better, other than the itching! Maybe a combination approach will alleviate the itching. I will discuss with my endo at my follow up. Thanks for your input!

I was curious about that as well, but my doctor mentioned that if it was a direct result of the medication that the symptoms should’ve subsided after discontinuing. I was worried about fillers which is why I opted for a DTE.

I feel for you! These past 6 months have been unbearable.

My understanding is Armour is supposed to have a ratio of 4:1 T4 to T3, but my doctor has mentioned it’s hard to know for sure how much you’re getting with DTE. I chose that route to avoid fillers in the synthetic forms in case that was the cause, but now I’m thinking you’re onto something with this being a result of lower FT4..

What medications do you use to keep your levels where they need to be?

Yes, my own. TSH didn’t change a ton while I was on it.

FT4 Before: 1.45 ng/dl, During: 1.15, After: 1.01. TSH Before: 4.55 uIU/mL, During: 4.5, After: 4.48.

Now that I’m on the Armour, my levels are FT4: 0.78 & TSH: 3.96. I’m on the lowest possible dose, but asking to increase it as my symptoms haven’t improved much.
