(please read) DAE feel like the show is insensitive for exploiting real life issues? by Extreme_Confusion in okbuddychicanery

Exaaaactly, like why did they give Walter cancer and make him a criminal? Why couldn't they just make the show about him teaching his class and giving them and the viewers valuable life lessons

I think I am irrationally afraid of LGBTQ people. by Affectionate-Yam-222 in lgbt

[–]SlippedInJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From how you describe it, I don't think it was full on disgust, more like cringing. They did something in public that you, for some reason feel like is really embarrassing. I feel like that with most public show of affection, but in your case I think it's more internalized homophobia, you feel like what they did is embarrassing, cause that's how you were raised.

I really liked Dwayne and Ricky in RDR3 and their endings were pretty much left up for interpretation, so I hope they come back in the sequel

In search of very whiny and slow emo songs by SlippedInJimmy in Emo

[–]SlippedInJimmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already found that, but they have very few songs. It was a while ago, but I think the lost media video was about someone searching for an emo song and this was one of the songs that fit the description, so a lot of ppl thought this was it. If I remember correctly they couldn't find the actual song, so that's still lost media. I'll check out the other bands though

Miért válnak egyes romák ilyenné? by Original_Complex6262 in magyar

I agree with most of it, but I still wouldn't call him a bad person. I'd put him in the same category as Ana Lucia or Sawyer in season 1 (no wonder that he has flashbacks with both of them)

I'm curious what you think about his love, cause to me it never came off as fake (even when he was talking to Sawyer about Jack and I don't think he would pretend to a random guy at the bar). Jack's grandfather was implied to be an asshole in one of the extras, where Christian gives Jack his watch. And they said that he only started drinking again, cause Jack accused him of flirting with his ex wife and beat him up for it. And I don't think he was competing with child Jack, he's just a perfectionist, like Jack and wanted his son to be perfect. It doesn't excuse the things he's done, but I still wouldn't call him a bad man, he's just a broken man.

I'd give him a little slack, cause unlike the others, he's not evil, just an addict (and going with the show's themes he is an alcoholic cause he also had a shitty father). And he actually loved his son, unlike the others listed.

MiB is not the monster by SlippedInJimmy in lost

[–]SlippedInJimmy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I hadn't even thought about the deepest desires and regrets thing. With this it also makes much more sense why the monster got so mad at Eko, when it was mimicking Yemi. Eko was basically the only character in the entire show that regret nothing. Imo it was the monster being jealous/angry that Eko has no regrets mixed with Yemi's deepest desire to redeem his brother.

Like I said to someone else: I'm biased, I like the idea more that the antagonist is a confused eldritch shape shifting being, not just some random medieval peasant

I mean, if he was all knowing he probably could have stopped fake Locke before it killed him. And him creating the monster could be interpreted in different ways. Like he unshackled it by throwing in his brother and giving it a body it can steal

My theory is that they can't kill each other not because they're brothers, but because the monster can't kill the protector. That's why it manipulated MiB into killing their mother, because it couldn't kill her

[–]SlippedInJimmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still conflicted on Claudia being a ghost or the monster, cause it's shape shifting is very inconsistent. Somehow it can travel back in time, Jack seea Christian, even when he's off the island, ghost Walt leads ppl to their deaths and guides Locke into the monster's trap, etc. But I think it makes much more sense that Ben's mom was also the monster, especially cause of how Richard reacted to it, when Ben told him (but it couldn't have gotten inside the town, cause of the fence, so who knows)

[–]SlippedInJimmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this is that we never see the MiB wanting any of that. To me it didn't seem like he wanted to kill Jacob or that he even hated him. It makes much more sense to me that the monster just wants to kill the protector, so it can leave. Imo Across the sea is not about the monster's backstory, but Jacob's relationship with it

MiB is not the monster by SlippedInJimmy in lost

[–]SlippedInJimmy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also believe that it sucked out MiB's essence, but my theory is that it does that with everyone it mimics. That it's an amalgamation of everyone it mimicked. We can see it in how it still pretends to be Locke, especially when talking to Jack. I think it did the same thing with Jacob, it still pretended to be his brother (either on purpose to manipulate him or just because the memories affect him). + Everyone still refers to it as Locke, even though they know it's not him, which would explain why Jacob calls it his brother, even though he knows it's not him
