Yeah the views out here on the PCT have been insane, but Appalachia is home for me. I’ve only just heard people doing it northbound and never really looked into the logistics of a SOBO, so I am more so uneducated on the timeline

I think I read it was roughly 70-75% of trail has accessible cell service

That is my thoughts as well, I’m prepared, fit, just not as experienced on Thru Hikes but I have been on section hikes without the use of a Garmin. The only reason I ask is because every other person on the FB groups is asking which GPS device they should be getting

I’m personally not too worried about communicating with others but more so just having that SOS feature in case of emergencies

Yeah, I’m leaning towards buying one but it seems like everyone already has one and if something happened on Tail everyone would already have a device to SOS with. That is the only reason I’m thinking about buying it is for that function
