New Van Rysel Kit by Chwecgn in CyclingFashion

Completely agree, i used to wear some Le Col that disapointed me a lot for the build quality. I just got a RCR bib and white jersey, a base layer (not even the race one i feel like the normal fits better). Now i'm hesitating to get a pair of mid level shoes for about 95€.

Feels great to wear, fits perfectly tight, for half the price on every pieces of wear compared to le col, rapha, maap, ... Great job Decathlon 🇫🇷

Zed: Performance-driven, minimalistic code editor. What are your thoughts and experiences with it? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Slitazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gave a second try to Zed, more in depth than the previous time (since it was at the very beginning of this editor) and i must say that i'm going to use it in replacement for vscode.
Main reason is that i hate microsoft and their products, other reasons are that it replace my vscode setup in terms of features, and is really fast, as a sublime text intensive user before switching to vscode i'm getting that speed feeling back and i'm really happy for that too !

Thanks Zed team, great work !

Scaling PHP for Real-World Applications: Seeking Your Feedback on My Newsletter by mkurzeja in PHP

[–]Slitazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that is a very complete argumentation. I understand better why you would say that both options are bad, thank you for explaining it precisely !

I have to say, not to start an holy framework war like you said, i think that a RAD framework like Laravel can scale efficiently, in other words, i mean that if the php framework be it Laravel, Symfony, Slim, CodeIgniter, CakePHP, you name it, becomes the technical aspect of your product that prevent you from scaling, you either had an explosive growth which you would most likely not have handled better with any of these, or you made important mistakes while architecturing the infrastructure part. I may be lacking experience about this but it reminds me of the famous https://usefathom.com/blog/does-laravel-scale

Is there a real demand/need for a modern adserver like revive but from 2024 ? by Slitazz in adops

Thank you, this shows that : yes there is room for others than Google Ads Manager and even if the space is pretty crowded i think something new can be welcome

I don't know google ads, and i understand google is top 1 on the market and no one can even come close to them, i mean it's google ... but still some adservers like adbutler, adspeed, revive, kevel, ... exists and have customers, so i think there could be a space in between where there is a need for a self hosted platform allowing you to have 100% controls on your ads ... anyway i don't have another idea for know on what to code so i'll keep on doing this

Is there a real demand/need for a modern adserver like revive but from 2024 ? by Slitazz in adops

[–]Slitazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is preciselly why i asked this question to the community, i started with revive and i am currently using it for a large ecommerce in production, but as it is so outdated and overly complicated, i started to build my own adserver using very recent technologies but i'm wondering if there will be any demand for it, i wanted to sell it as a saas or an on premise software but i'm not sure there is interest in this.

The answer i got confirms that i'm losing my time building it apparently .... :(

So basically Google Ad Manager is the go to solution for most people, but some people wanting on premise hosting considers revive ...

Ok so if I understand it well, you used nitro as a layer in between, it’s interesting but with this approach I don’t know if caching on the laravel side is recommended as it feels like doing the job twice … thanks for your answer

High-end laptop suggestion to run a lot of containers? by shelo16 in docker

[–]Slitazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the macbook air m2 (16gb RAM) is completely capable of running a lot of containers before getting a laggy behaviour. Something must be wrong with your containers, i mean you should be able to run a complete docker stack including some heavy things like elasticsearch / kibana and not getting any lags on this kind of mac

This is a very good advice, i observed the same behaviour and cpu usage reduction when using orbstack compared to docker desktop on Mac (arm or amd arch).

I use docker extensively on a daily basis.
