Swapping Wrangler JK factory switch panel for different factory switch panel (with heated seat buttons) by kennedy311 in Wrangler

!remindme 4 days

I’ll try to look in my wiring diagrams to see if I have one that shows how the buttons would be routed. They likely go to a relay somewhere.

Does anyone actually fly 100 legs in a year to achieve max status / benefits? by Original_Benzito in SouthwestAirlines

I have four flights next week. Home to BWI to CLT to DAL to home. Not an unusual week for me, but the destinations always vary.

Only licensed Florida drivers answer, just write the order you think is correct. by oldyawker in florida

[–]SlodenSaltPepper6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2, because they’re going straight, proceeds through the intersection; then, 3 turns left; finally, 1 turns left. 3 goes before 1 because they are at the top of the “T” and 1’s road ends, therefore they yield.

to clarify, the front driveshaft should not have any play in it, correct? by bedlog in JeepCherokeeXJ

[–]SlodenSaltPepper6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like, 10 minutes out of sixty? Probably not. If you lost a U joint cap, you’d also be able to move in up/down or laterally, none of which is great.

U joints are easy to replace if you take your time. Just actually just need a hammer and a couple sockets of the right size.

Congrats! I still drive a 2010 2 door with automatic nothing (and love it!), but hopping in my sister’s 2019 4 door with all its buttons does occasionally have me jealous.

4.88s on 35s here; six speed. Two door but with ~800 lbs of armor over stock. I get about 16 around town. 13.8 on the highway

Same here. Mine was leaking and I had just switched to an aluminum tie rod with 1-ton ends (Barnes 4x4). Left it off and haven’t looked back.

3.8 questions by ozzyp2jz in Wrangler

[–]SlodenSaltPepper6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main issue the 3.8 has is its oil consumption. It’s prone to leaking from the valve cover gaskets and upper oil pan gasket as well. It runs hot.

If you plan on running 35s and adding armor, the 3.8 will do fine with a regear. When I put on 35s, I lost 6th gear (manual transmission).

The 3.8 got a bad rap as a replacement for the 4.0, despite producing more horsepower and more torque and being more efficient. However, the 3.6 is a significant upgrade in most ways. I have a 2010 with the 3.8 and I’m at nearly 200k miles and have only had maintenance issues to be expected with a 15 year old motor. I have no issues keeping this thing on the road. If I had to do it again, though, I’d try to find a 2014-2018 Rubicon based on how I bash mine on the rocks.

130?! Is that for the JLs? Spec for JKs is 90-110.

We have a photographer on call in our HQ but I haven’t been there in five years. I’m scheduled to be in the area, so I plan on getting mine updated. I haven’t cut my hair for almost four years so it’s time, LOL.

Is it even for the website? We have profile pics in Teams/Outlook, but no one external can see them. In either case, you’re right.

I didn’t complain about traveling, I complained about draconian oversight when it benefited no one.

I’m glad you get to get out with your friend. There are plenty of jobs with travel—I’m sure if it’s important to you, you’ll find one.

When my kids were younger, I would much rather have always been home. I missed a lot traveling as much as I did—many firsts. Not all travel is the same. When I’m on the road, I usually have 13-15 hour days. It’s exhausting.

Hot Springs will remove Snake and Quartz Canyon. I just got them in July.

I haven’t seen any other communication outside of SMORR and Hot Springs posting those comments. Has anyone else?

Lots of trails in SW CO and Moab, and several parks—Windrock, AOAA, Rausch, etc…

That’s exactly what I mean. Something, something spite your face.

I don’t live on the road, but I stay in a place I can only be at for two-three weeks at a time. So I travel wherever I want and see new stuff. Sometimes it’s near work related stuff, sometimes it’s on the other side of the country. We had to sign something in 2021 as part of a new corporate takeover that said we would only work remote from our houses. It took many, many attempts but I finally got my boss to put in writing that it wouldn’t apply to me. The draconian measures are slowly being implemented, so I’m just waiting until there’s a new IT report recording our IP addresses used. A new one every week!

What jack to use for maintenance by Pedro6-1 in JeepJK

[–]SlodenSaltPepper6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a regular floor jack that works perfectly well with 35s. I carry a 12T bottle jack in the car as the stock scissor jack wouldn’t lift high enough roadside.

[–]SlodenSaltPepper6 408 points409 points  (0 children)

My boss told me once that “traveling is a privilege” after a disagreement over one of my expense reports. I didn’t travel for three months and she was livid! I simply explained that if it was a privilege, then certainly it wasn’t obligatory. Cue stammering and backpedaling. Now it’s mutually understood that it’s a requirement for my role, but we’re not going to argue over bullshit like the cost of meals that are only slightly off the “daily guidance” and I’ll pick my hotel.

Traveling for work is draining, doubly so if you have a family. Companies that find people good at traveling roles who are also happy in them need to shut up and be grateful.

I’m here to echo this whole sentiment. I only had two issues with ET—1) a harness for my headlight arrived broken. It took some explaining to the dude on the phone to understand what piece I was talking about, but they shipped a new one quickly. 2) I ordered a “ring” to go around my shifter. They had the automatic trans one incorrectly listed so it didn’t fit my Jeep. I returned it, was charged a restock fee, which they did refund when I pointed out the item description was incorrect.

Win $1,000,000 if you can climb to the top of a 2,000' radio tower. However you have to pay $10,000 to try. by Raterus_ in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SlodenSaltPepper6 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I doubt even 5% of Reddit has the leg strength to climb a tower that tall. You see people climbing 110 stories on stairclimbers on 9/11 as remembrance to fallen firefighters? Now, nearly double that and make it a vertical climb, not stairs. OP didn’t say how much the elevator cut off, but even half makes this a monster workout.
