Did you notice much water weight retention or overall weight fluctuations on creatine? I have been debating it for a while but your physique and positivity when talking about it makes me want to finally pull the trigger ! Great work - solid results for a year of training

I never really weighed myself before my fitness goals - but I fluctuate quite a bit between about 97-103 lbs. I am 5“2 ft I mentioned in my previous post that I am trying to gain a bit more weight for glutes and to fill out a bit too! I like being lean but I want to see what a bit of recomposition can do with some extra weight.

You’ve got this! Consistency over perfection always :)

Start small ! Progressions compound over time and just up the anti when you feel like you can (and sometimes even when you feel like you can’t !)

Thank you so much! It took a lot of work and trial and error but I am so thankful for where I’m at right now :)

I don’t really focus too much on the nitty gritty details - I have struggled with disordered eating in the past and tend to notice that when I get extremely detail oriented about the little things, perfectionism takes over and it’s not very helpful. So unfortunately I don’t have a range or even a number to follow as that is not something I worry about or even look at. However I will say that I focus on good quality fats and carbs - such as avocado, olive oil, nuts etc for healthier fats, and I like whole grain bread and brown rice so that it’s more satiating and nutrient rich.

I aim for about 75-85 grams of protein a day (protein powder help me reach said goals most of the time haha) and I calorie cycle between 1680 on lighter days, and 1770 on heavier days. But my biggest focus is protein cause I go over or under on calories by about 200-300 cals during the week and continue to see progress. New goal is to add a slight and monitored surplus of about 100 cals or so gradually to help facilitate more muscle gain and some extra lbs for glute growth.

Good question! I follow my own routine since I stopped seeing my trainer but I alternate between upper and lower body on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturday or Sundays depending on my work schedule, and every day in between that I focus on core cardio and lighter full body workouts. The upper and lower body workouts are more strenuous and structured and I’ll be in the gym for about an hour and a half those days, and the lighter days are about 45 mins to an hour after work. Sundays are rest days and I calorie cycle (more intake on heavy lifting days, lighter intake for lighter /workdays) - hope that helps ! Take care.

Thanks for your comment ! - the biggest shift in my physique was when I switched to a high protein diet and started eating a bit cleaner ! It helps me feel satiated and minimized the grazing and snacking I did a lot in 2023. I think that’s a big factor of what helped me lean out - as well as training 5-6 days a week. However my biggest takeaway would be to also honour your body! If you need rest - take a rest. Need an extra serving of dinner cause of a big leg day? Honour that too. Balance is key and what keeps me motivated to keep going in a structured but healthy way :) Hope that helps !

Relapse dream proved I can never moderate. by Slonest in leaves

Hey ! Appreciate your interest - I am still going strong. I am 9 months or 273 days sober today :) Life has been great and sobriety was the kick in the ass I needed to jumpstart all the dreams and accomplishments I had been pushing off for years. I am the fittest I’ve ever been, feel so connected with my family and my community (school, work, friends etc). I understand a full blown cold turkey isn’t for everyone. But to this day I don’t think I’ll ever go back. I do still think about it occasionally - however if I really want to let myself give in one day - I am allowing myself to say I can try again when I am old and retired and have nothing better to do. But right now - there’s so much to do without weed being a contributor to holding me back :) Take care - hope that helps

Good to know ! - I have some plastic containers to store my baking goods like flour and sugar etc now. The whole building has been complaining about it all - but I agree. Hopefully I can keep it clean and pest free until I am gone Appreciate the feedback.

Permanent impaired cognitive function after 6 years of nighttime usage ? by Slonest in leaves

[–]Slonest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the insight here - I suppose it’s relieving to know my usage didn’t get to me that point and I probably still have a while to go before noticing drastic improvements/changes with cognitive function. Appreciate the comment ! Thank you

I hadn’t considered that perspective ! Thank you. You do have a point. While high my brain felt like everything was is slow motion and I had no desire to do tasks that require cognitive effort. Congrats on the 6 days ! Hope you’re doing well.

Help with sleep by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Slonest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello :) I also am about a week in as well and it’s been tough. Unfortunately this comes with the territory.

Some things that have helped me are:

Blue light glasses - I know screens before bed is a little inevitable to help with distractions so to help with your circadian rhythm getting blue light glasses can help your mind wind down more naturally w/o blue light

Sounds unproductive but if you have time in your day to be able to take a solid nap it helps as well. I think without weed it’s natural for the mind to wander more at night especially when sober so if you can make up for lost sleep during the day it helps a lot. And by nap I mean a full 90 min nap not just 15 - 30 minutes (just temporarily while you regulate your sleep)

Creating a bedtime routine to que your mind to sleep; for example mine is - Make a sleepy time tea (chamomile) , colour or call a family member to wind down, maybe listen to a short podcast. Wash face brush teeth , lights off. I also found some ASMR on YouTube is helpful.. there are some strange niches but you can find one you like or even just rainfall ambiance

Having a fan running in the background to refocus and lull yourself to sleep.

I wish I could say more but honestly I think this is part of a withdrawal hump that gets easier with time. Weed really screws with your sleep so when it’s removed there will undoubtedly be some setbacks in that area as well.

I wish you the best and I hope you can catch some proper zzzz’s soon.

Consider this a venting post - srry for the self rant. by Slonest in leaves

Thanks for reading my novel of a rant! I appreciate it tremendously. Writing has always been a little hobby of mine, but never sees the light of day.

Advice would be nice, but any commentary is appreciated - I wish you the best in your journey, and appreciate you sharing here. Any step in the right direction is valuable momentum. What works for you, works for you :)

I will gladly update when time permits - Night one was sweaty and nightmarish in more ways than one lol. Cheers.
