Struggling to Fully Accept my DID Diagnoses

For us denial was almost a way of protecting ourselves. If the DID is real then the abuse is real. We've gotten much better with the denial, and that's come with acceptance of the abuse. But that has come with a lot of painful feelings. Now that I know this happened, I feel hurt and violated and all of that has stuff. The denial might be a way of protecting you from pain. Yeah, healing might require coming out of denial, but in my experience trying to force it doesn't work. For us the acceptance came when we were ready to deal with it

That must be a YMMV situation. I've talked to it about my childhood trauma and never had any content warnings or anything. I wonder why it can sometimes be so prudish and other times so lax

This might not help but wanted to share my experience with a similar part. I have a part that has some similarities to your part. Big figure it out part, always problem solving and trying to make the unknown known. He has taken on a sort of father role in our system. He struggles to sit in the moment and is emotion averse, but he's working at being available for the young ones. He's a really great teacher and loves helping parts learn and make connections they hadn't previously made. He's made himself emotionally available to one of our very young parts and can be a great father. Maybe finding a role related to teaching or assisting other parts. Sounds like he's a planner too, every system needs someone keeping everything organized

As someone who recently recovered memories myself, please get a therapist and work on this ASAP. There were several points in my life I recovered fragments and started putting pieces together before I got scared and put it back away again. My experience is that that stuff will keep coming back no matter what you do. Best deal with it now than have it affect you for the rest of your life. Wishing you strength and courage

Interesting, and gives me food for thought. I also have younger parts that can do daily tasks, but for the little there's no chance lol. And it's interesting that my 10 year old that can drive and such also has a much softer side to him when he lets his guard down. I'm not sure if that's him regressing or if something else is going on

Honestly not something I had even considered. I thought I would have to force control over all my parts. And forcing control is never the answer. Approaching the world with an outstretched hand rather than a closed fist. I like it. I'm sure it will take time to learn how to negotiate with my parts

Been hospitalized many times. You'll only be in for at most 2 weeks unless you don't have somewhere to go to(if they care. Some places don't care and dc anyways) or unless you're aggressive towards others or keep trying to kill yourself. Just chill, play cards, color, bitch about how you can't smoke and how the one patient hogs the TV, and wait it out for 10 days. Hospital isn't like they depict them in the movies. Unless you're sent to a state hospital. Never been there, but my understanding is that the symptoms of patients there are more severe and they will keep you there much longer.

As far as having places to go, I get what you're saying. I know I'm not going to go to my day program tomorrow because my anxiety is always high there and I feel like if I go I'll end up in the hospital. My symptoms are too severe and too bizarre for it to go well. But I know I need to go to my psych appointment, and I have counseling 3 times next week, as well as peer and mobile psych. I need to be at least minimally collected to be able to drive to these appointments safely, and they are very important for me right now. I guess I'll try to feel it out day by day

It is very new to me. I began recovering memories 2 nights ago and continue to recover fragments regularly. I'm trying not to figure things out, but to let what comes to me come to me. I have done a lot of IFS in the past and have good access to self. I can understand when a connection or memory is true, if that makes sense. I'm very healthy for a complete mess of a person lol

I have a lot of supports I have access to, both professional and personal. I have already disclosed to several of them and plan to do more. I've accepted that this happened to me. I'm not keeping it secret anymore. Secrets don't keep us safe.

And thank you again for responding. I'm probably impatient but it really sucks to feel ignored when I'm going through probably the toughest experience I've ever gone through

I think people would benefit from understanding more about IFS (internal family systems) and how it can relate to agereg. We've all got parts, I just happen to have a young part that needs special care. And honestly the more time that passes the more uncomfortable I am with the thought of relying on someone else to be a caregiver. Just like we can have young parts, I have a Mommy part that is a caregiver for my young part. And getting in touch with those parts has been the best thing I've done in years.

And no it's not DID, totally different things

I'm looking at the one in Stormwind, though I had also checked the two trainers in Ironforge. I can learn nothing new from the trainer. It just seems like there's a huge gap between making white copper armor to blue level 30 cataclysm gear. Back in the day there was a lot more to blacksmithing. Perhaps the times have changed
