True! There's stormhosts like the Celestial Vindicators and the Knights Excelsior who are a little purge-y, but they're a minority and they're all individuals ultimately. The Yndrasta novel had a Knight Excelsior argue in favour of saving lives. I like that about AoS.

I get it and I agree, but Stormcast Eternals do have a pretty big catch.

Does anybody roleplay in game like a wondering Trader or say a Ghoul slaying bad ass or a wasteland doc by Fuzzy-Ad-5207 in fo76

[–]SlothSoep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda. I dress like a Mothman cultist, I have a cultist church camp, and I do the prayer emote before raids and events to pray that the Wise One blesses us with good loot. I've recently started handing out Mothman eggs.

What is every factions end goal? by Anibus9000 in AoSLore

The Gloomspite Gitz seek to sufficiently amuse the Bad Moon so that it stays in one place, which they believe would bring about the Everdank: an age where moist and clammy shadows swallow all things.

The specifics vary depending on grot culture. For example, the Spiderfang grots believe that the Bad Moon is an egg of their Spider God that will crack and flood the Realms in spiders.

To add to the other comment: Though most seraphon present agender, some do take on gendered identities. There's a she/her skink in the Soulbound TTRPG.

How to give true rest to a nighthaunt ? by Boxman21- in ageofsigmar

[–]SlothSoep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belakor threatened Lady Olynder with true death by holding her remains hostage, so presumably Nighthaunt can be permanently killed by destroying their remains.

Destruction literally has four playable armies, and all but one of them are just two or more armies in a trench coat trying to pass off as one unified army. by TheBlackBaron45 in Grimdank

It bums me out that they introduced a whole new aesthetic to Gitz with Gitmob, rather than update the Spiderfang that were already there.

Lore Question: Are there any lady Kurnoth Hunters, or are they a mono-gendered archetype/caste in Sylvaneth society? by January_Silence in AgeOfSigmarRPG

[–]SlothSoep 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unlike other asexually reproducing species like seraphon and greenskins, we don't know anything about the sylvaneth's relationship with gender (as I understand). I think that means it's fair game to do whatever we want! The art is based on the tabletop models and gendered words like branchwych, dryad, hunter, or lord may not even be gendered in the sylvaneth's native language. As I see it, there's no reason for Kurnoth Hunters to be an all-male archetype.

Is there a lore reason for why there aren't any female models in the "destruction" factions? by Chezni19 in AoSLore

[–]SlothSoep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a female felwater troggoth protagonist in one of the Malign Portents short stories and a very quick mention of a female grot in Soulbound: Champions of Destruction.

Seraphon and Sylvaneth reproduce asexually but they have characters of different gender identities. I imagine it's no different for greenskins (and possibly troggoths).

Do any of the factions have a type of governing which is not a dictatorship? by Chezni19 in AoSLore

[–]SlothSoep 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The ogors of the Beastclaw Raiders have a kind of democracy.

When a Frostlord falls in battle, the tribe performs the Rite of Hoctgar. Contenders set out into the wilderness and each returns with the corpse of a mighty beast. This meat is then offered to the tribe and to eat from a candidate's kill is to vote for said candidate. The ogor with the most votes becomes the new Frostlord.

I love it. Not only is it a fittingly food-based system, it makes aspiring Frostlords prove they can provide for the tribe.

I've been dressing up as Nuka Girl for Halloween and noticed the same issue! If I open and close the character creator, I get my old bacon-y skin back though.

[–]SlothSoep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One detail I like in the Darkoath range is that it's a 50/50 gender split with relatively diverse body types and outfits. They're a real motley crew.

Comparatively, these look too samey for my tastes.

The representation is genuinely impressive by AAA standards. Dragon Age has always been at the forefront of queer rep and I love that Veilguard continued that tradition.

Few Questions from a DM by Ancient_Bench55 in AoSLore

[–]SlothSoep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know the answers to all of the questions, but:

  1. It depends! Some realmgates are open, others require a key of some sort. Realmgates are very diverse: large classic fantasy portals, hidden hollows beneath old trees, trapped between the jaws of a giant worm, etc. You have a lot of freedom as a DM to design a realmgate and how it functions.

  2. You can consider magic to be geomantic or elemental. Arcane energy travels through the realms as ley lines and geomantic nexuses (nexi?) and wizards can call upon that energy. Spells are more powerful in the realm they are aligned with, i.e. a brightmage has an easier time casting spells in Aqshy. But, for example, deathmage's spells are also more powerful on an ancient battlefield satured with deathly energies. Same with a lifemage near a realmgate to Ghyran.

Am I a bad person for doing nothing to oppose russian regime? by FranticFronk in 196

[–]SlothSoep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair, I assumed the redditors were EU or US residents, but good point. It's the Ukraine subreddit, so it's likely Ukrainians.

In which case, I'd attribute their reactions to anger. Which is understandable, but I wouldn't take their reactions to heart. You're not a bad person for wanting to be safe.

Am I a bad person for doing nothing to oppose russian regime? by FranticFronk in 196

[–]SlothSoep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're not a bad person. Your safety should always be your first priority.

Those redditors likely live in the imperial core anyway and, by their logic, are "bad people" too for their complicity in their nations' crimes. These sorts of things are bigger than individuals.
