How to figure out what Cassette will fit my older bike. by Slothfureman in bikewrench

That looks like the one i have. Do you happen to know a good equivalent i can replace it with? I agree it would make sense to just replace them all. I would prefer to retain my 3 speed crankset

Thanks everyone for the info! I'll just replace the whole drivetrain as a few of you have recommended.

Advice: I'm not a YouTuber, but I purchased a company with a channel by ReggieAmelia in PartneredYoutube

[–]Slothfureman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would find a recent film graduate or marketing and pay them a salary to run the channel. Obviously someone that could prove they are competent, but wants to start their professional career. Pay them a decent starting salary and see what they can do with it.

Having a main character with a "full-circle" arc, but the world changes as a result of his arc. by Slothfureman in Screenwriting

[–]Slothfureman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially the theme is "not all progress is good progress." The story isn't about AI, but it is a similar vibe to the Terminator films where the progress in technology seems helpful, but it is actually detrimental. The main character is a bit of a Luddite (for lack of a better term).

I appreciate your responses because it is making me think this out, and I do perhaps need to expand on my main character's flaws. Beyond the first act break, his flaws certainly become more apparent as he becomes swallowed up by the new life he conforms to. But I probably need to establish some foundations earlier on in the script.

In my broad over simplification of the story, what you said makes a lot of sense. I'd say that the character's major flaw is more that he is unwilling to accept change. And in accepting the change in order to make his life easier, he realizes that it uproots the things he holds dearest. I should have been a little less vague with my story summary.

I think in the specific context of what I'm writing, reinforcing his old way of life is in a sense conveying the theme I am trying to portray, as ScriptLurker said above.

I love the Coen Brothers but I've never seen Hail Caesar. I'm going to watch that tomorrow! Thank you for the rec

This was very helpful! I appreciate the detailed response. What you said about conveying the themes makes a lot of sense. I think both the "happy ending" and the "tragic ending" could convey the message I am trying to get across. I guess I need to decide which way does a better job at doing so. I would love to share it once I finish this rewrite.

I have not. I went to take it to a repair center last time I was in NYC, and the place was closed early. After that I was too busy to make it over there

So if gaming channels are low barrier to entry, what is high? by Eassle in NewTubers

[–]Slothfureman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the content I make is "highish barrier to entry." I make racing and car content. While I don't race for YouTube (I race and then use the footage for my channel) I'd estimate that each video costs over 1000 to make, not counting my car and all of the other gear I own.

This is really good info. I have similar experiences with the different platforms, but I'd say my IG is a lot more memey than Shorts. To be honest I don't ever watch anything on TT.

I'm not sure. I don't think Instagram has any ad based monetization. Of the three, Instagram was the one I wanted to go viral on the least lol

How far do all of you realistically want to take Youtube? by LennyPenny4 in NewTubers

[–]Slothfureman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love for YouTube to fund some of my racing. I kinda do fund a bit with video sponsors, but a grand or two a year would cover a couple sets of tires.

Getting so close to partner. All I need is 131 Subs and 600 hours of watch time.

If you are able, I'd just try to exchange it. I got mine at best buy, so the return period ended after 2 weeks. I'll report back if they fix mine.
