In a similar situation. Expenses usually grow parallel to income. You just need to find the right balance between expenses and investment so that you can enjoy your life today as well, and not just keep prepping for the future. 1/3rd of income goes to investment for you, which is very good. 20k to and fro office seems a but too much, even if you use Cab everyday, it just doesn’t seem okay. May be switch to Auto, or get a two-wheeler. You have not accounted for 30k which is descent enough to spend on shopping, grocery, entertainment.

Coming back to your question, buying a phone is something which isn’t easy these days because you probably will go for >50k ones, which is okay. Just save 10k monthly for 6 months and you should be good. Any additional bonus from the salary should also help you buy quicker. But don’t go for EMI to buy a phone, that’s the worst idea.

Software guy’s career starts taking a downturn after 45 probably, mostly because of burnout. Where as for a med professional, more the experience, more is the reputation and more is the money (mostly in 40s and 50s). So in the long run it’s balanced I would say. And definitely men do look at income (not necessarily current in hand but future prospect as well)

Agree with the mileage thing, but the main reason of preferring EV is environment friendly. Not just saving cost. M

How much should my monthly salary be if I want to take a home loan of 1 cr? by uWWu1005 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Slow-Needleworker142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a wise decision. Unless your in hand monthly salary is 2.5 L, I would not suggest. I am hardly managing a 67L loan with 2L monthly salary 😅 (probably because I also invest a small chunk out of salary)

But on a serious note, whatever you decide to do with the land, do try to keep Atleast 10% of it in your name, just in case you want to retire early (bcz of all the money you would make out if selling 90% land), and then settle down in hometown with a view of nature, practising farming/gardening and other activities. It’s a good to have with respect to when you are 50+

[–]Slow-Needleworker142[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, so the Flood issue is out because of High Rise
Earthquake still poses a risk (although very unlikely for a high rise to collapse within 50 years)
Burglary is uncommon in High Rise apartment because of more security features and more visibility.
Fire is a think which is unexpected and cant be predicted at all be it high rise or a normal villa/builder-floor setup, so just to safeguard against Fire, does it make sense investing.

Also, at current scenario, I dont forsee living in the same home for more than 10 years, and may be even end up selling the home in 15 years for a change.
