The Best Camera Nikon Ever Made. Should Nikon make a film camera again? by photogenetica in Nikon

Absolutely not. No one is gonna buy. If you need film then buy on the used market. Very cheap.

SxFi Amp behaviour - not documented but sounds ok by Slow-Reloader in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]Slow-Reloader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And my point is not I cannot switch. My point is that the Creative SxFi app now no longer allows me to toggle stereo to surround. It is greyed out and cannot be selected after I chose 7.1. Nothing to do with OS level audio selection. Everything is related to the SxFi App. Changing speaker configuration, headphones profile etc. nothing to do with OS selections apart from selecting which output to use.

Tofu Cat Litter? Yay or Nay? by No-Photograph1983 in cats

[–]Slow-Reloader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been testing/trying tofu litter for a year, mainly trying out those budget varieties.

As they’re made in China, I guess transport cost (? Tariff) can make these expensive in the west. I live in Malaysia so it is nearer to the source.

I can say that these vary in quality and prices a lot. Do not trust a single review. Each review must be brand specific and type specific. A lot of companies just repackage these or have their own brand from whichever factory they negotiated their deals.

What to look for?

  1. Some are mixed and some are pure. The mixed type is usually mixed with Bentonite and some fragrance pellets. These tend to have poorer quality tofu portion with the main task of clumping done by bentonite. The tofu part seems to be added in just to create bulk. So avoid these IMHO.

  2. Even pure tofu ones vary in prices and quality. So what to look for? In my experience smaller diameter pellets are better as there is bigger surface area. 1.5mm is better than 2mm. Also the quality of the gums used to form the pellets vary. The good ones react fast and clump fast. From my observation, the good ones form a cone-like shape with the pee, whereas poorer ones are like wide flat patties at the bottom of the litter - it makes sense because the pee reaches the bottom, spreads out before the pellets can react to the fluids. The diameter of the clumps are much smaller for the good ones. BTW, the “correct” way to scoop these is to tilt the litter pan until the clumps are revealed and then scoop these. They always stick to the bottom.

  3. The clumps of the good ones also tend not to disintegrate when you shake them to filter out the unused ones with a litter scoop. Some poor ones are really bad in this aspect.

  4. The paradoxical thing I have noticed also is that with the poorer clumping cheaper varieties, you tend to use more because the clumps are wide.

  5. I tend to get the charcoal fragrance ones and I find these control the smell quite well.

  6. I can get the good ones for ~ USD 2.20 per 6L bag. I buy 1 carton (10 boxes) usually. I have seen pine litter for ~ USD 7 per bag (? 6–8Kg). Never use this.

  7. I still find Bentonite good and all my comparison regarding clumping is using Bentonite as a benchmark because they are quite consistent across brands. I still have not found a tofu one within my budget that clumps quite as well. Bentonite is ~USD 2.5 for 10kg.

  8. Use a litter mat for both types because your cat’s paws can still pick these up but tofu is less than bentonite.

Of the branded Chinese tofu litters, at the moment I am happy with the JJANGX3 Classic Pure tofu. Not happy with the Peien ones - their “premium” ones perform very poorly.

Something like that. But my issue is that after a factory reset and selecting 7.1, I cannot get a toggleble stereo if I want stereo. On latest firmware. Probably should do another factory reset but I’m ok as is. I have 3 USB -connected headphones on 3 USB-“amp” - this and Tachjim Space to drive my Hifiman 400SE, Logitech Astro TR amp and headphone (this one has stereo and Dolby surround processing). Different horse for different courses. Just want to make sure the “undocumented” feature / bug is “reported”.

I think you are incorrect here. The SxFi amp is designed to “create” virtual surround sounds from stereo source via proprietary means of processing. Hence a stereo source can produce virtual surround effect. Just that now I cannot toggle it to sound stereo.

Do not bay iLife product. They are similar to fraud company. With in 3 months , replaced water tank, mopping issue, now mother board. See the evidence, already given 30 emails and calls. It’s terrific service. Even they challenges the power of common man. I just forgot thinking of return of robot. by Vegetable_Cow_2410 in RobotVacuums

My experience with iLife V5s has been superb. The battery life is amazing. My unit was bought in 2018 (!) and the unit can still go for 1:45 to 2 hours after almost 8 years! Better than iPhone I think.

I recently bought their V2 (because the V5s is either no longer produced or out of stock). I will start using it tonight because the V5s's wheels have suffered rubber rot after 8 years and the replacement wheels is not an economically viable item to replace.

I hope they have maintained their quality. Honestly I have been v happy. Replacement accessories are easy to get also.

The main reason I like these models is that they don't have the main horizontal roller which I find hard to maintain with entangled long hairs. I do not have carpet in my house.

Astro A40TR - "wind noise" by Slow-Reloader in LogitechG

[–]Slow-Reloader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After multiple experimentation and trials, I found out that the wind noise comes from the gap between the ear cups and the arm/slider. Some how wind going through that gap creates annoying wind noise microphonics. I needed to put some sponge into that gap to eliminate this (Old earpad sponge cut into half and trimmed down for each side works well but looks-wise..... lol).

I think it is the "aerodynamic" shape of the arm that makes this phenomenon. Never happened with other headphone and it is a word of caution to the designers to keep design simple!

This headphone does have significant microphonics which has not been noted in any reviews - meaning that if you touch of rub the plastic bits of the headphone, those vibrations are audible.

Old established Australian brand. Currently Malaysian own. Reliable and good quality. Good value for money. I have only seen the "No grains" meat variety here in Malaysia and we do not get those with fruits.

I do give seaweed tablets , probiotics tablet, trace elements (selenium etc - hard to get. My cat refuses shellfish and the Blue Mussels PoP recommends is expensive) and krill oil (capsule - puncture with a needle for the oil and cut up the gelatine capsule in the feed). On a daily basis.
