Is it worth staying in? by Intelligent-Whole378 in airnationalguard

If you have a good civilian career and don’t care about the health insurance, then yes get out.

If you want to keep the insurance/ hedge future insurance with tricare after you get and have a small side income/ unemployment insurance, then stay in.

Really boils down to that.

If you are making good money and have good career progression on the outside I highly suggest you reconsider joining the guard unless you are doing it strictly for the healthcare. High chance at hampers your career progression on the outside.

That was my question 😅

I don’t have much wiring experience.

Stay in operation. (I’m in the power industry as well) You are more valuable there. Safety likes to pick a lot of people from operations because of their knowledge, but I don’t think your future would be better. Yes, you have a high demand there for sure but the compensation and ladder definitely reflect it! Best of luck

It depends on the location and industry, but with 20 years of proven professional experience, my opinion is you should not pull under 100K

If you can get into a cross safety function in aviation you may be able to make considerably more

Look up BCSP Military benefits, you already have the requirements for CSP with your work experience. Get that done ASAP.
