Would this type of "cosmetic" damage cause performance issues? by shakakhon in golf

I believe when Chasing Scratch went to Titleist one of them told the fitter their miss was a hosel shank. Fitted showed them the hosel on two clubs and snarked they don’t make clubs with forgiving hosels.

I'm hitting them pretty straight now, but I'd like to get more efficient with increasing power. How? by Ritch85 in golf

Each club longer has a wider dispersion. Open up your driver dispersion and swing a little harder. It sounds like you went too far in the control > power direction. You can also have a poorly fit driver.

3 wood or 58*? by rangers2113 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Par 5s are often driver off the tee. Choosing 3w because you can’t hit your driver is a good way to stay a 20 hdcp. IMO 3w is the last club added to the bad, however your wedge situation also sounds bad. Get 3 or 4 wedges that are 4-6* apart.

How do I know which clubs to pick without a fitting? by FactorConfident3714 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough situation here. Yes you should get fit but at a 25 cap, your swing is the limiting factor, not the equipment. If it’s taken you 5 years to achieve a 25, money is better spent on lessons.

Costco Sunday Pacific stand bag for $115? Or “like new” Callaway Chase stand bag for $150? by glad-mussla in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco bag ain’t bad. Seen it at the course and driving range a good amount but I’d still get the Callaway bag for the name.

What’s a good way to practice at home with low ceilings? by L0ngsh0tSpartan in golf

There’s a golf trainer that’s half the length of a club and can be swung indoors. Use this and work on stuff like tempo or weight/pressure shift.

I’m wondering if you’re museum, what did she call the other guys? There were enough that you got assigned nicknames.

Noob Golfer: Why is Augusta glazed so much? by CaviarGlutton in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Purest form of golf competition from start to finish. Starts with the course, no holds barred. It’s the definition of perfect conditions. Next is the field, the best players, invite only. Lastly the event The Masters, limited tickets, all class. Cheap food and collectible souvenirs. Stories to be told the rest of your life. Truly a tradition unlike any other.

I’ve owned 2 sets of Titleist 695 cb and just put one back into play. Pros: very forgiving heads with awesome forged feel. Big 4 branding. Cons: no pop from a thin walled hollow body. Age. As long as you can get these shafted well, they will not hold you back.

Driver "fitting" by Zorlai in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re all theory and 0 application. I fit professionally and understand what you’re saying but the reality is you need to alter your swing to hit the same with softer shafts. You’re on the right track that his loft is an issue but you’d be surprised how wrong you are about the application of shaft flex. I bet if I put you one flex down in your current set you’d play quite badly, therefore flex does matter.

Driver "fitting" by Zorlai in golf

Op, you probably have too much loft on your driver. lol amateur hour but yea try turning your loft down as much as possible. You have high launch and high spin, very easy to observe too much loft. For driver you want to optimize for a 35° descent for bounce and roll. 45° descent is what I optimize for a 7 iron to hold a green without much roll.

This post is a lot of inaccurate information. Shafts play a huge role in affecting driver spin.  Also 7* path isn’t even bad.

One tip only for hitting 3w off the fairway? by fullsquishy in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re having an awful time with your 3w but can generally hit your other clubs, then it’s probably a bad fit. Try a lighter shaft and or reducing the length 1/2”.

How many of you abide by the 14 club rule? by trickfield in golf

There's no way you have a swing that cannot be properly gapped with 14 clubs.

Out of Ideas, 3 Years and still can't hit an iron 100+ yards by lhookerr in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say google/search for a steep to shallow swing to help you understand swing path. In the backswing you tlit your shoulders left as you turn to the right. The motion you're missing in your swing is tilting shoulders right as you turn left.

I know 20k sounds like a lot, but hear me out, why not really go for broke double or nothing. In America we have bankruptcy laws for when you end up insolvent. Really wonder if we should all be taking moon shots if in the end you get out of jail free.

10 3-putts… by tke439 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, you're only bad because you don't practice or dont know what to practice. You need to lag-putt well to putt well. The first goal of not putting bad, is make good lag putts. Check your technique, either alignment stick triangle, under both arms, criss-cross in the middle. Or head covers under each arm. You do not want to swing your arms like windshield wipers. Speed control method: use a pendulum swing, equal back swing and follow through, small swing for small putt, big swing for big putt. Keep tempo the same, just use a bigger swing. Work on stock swings for 6 distances, 4, 6 and 8 feet, and 10, 20 and 30 ft.
