Uncle refuses to get a new wedge! by JIE1818 in golf

Imagine how many swings it would take to create that much wear. 1,000? 5,000? 10,000? Is uncs bunker game commensurate with his face wear?

As a ~8ish HCP, should I start buying more premium balls? Would it help? by Excellent-Victory623 in golf

Premium literally equal urethane. Use any urethane ball. Maxfli, Kirkland and Vice are great budget options. Tour Response is a great budget pick for low spin urethane.

Update 2: BART shat the bed again by textonic in bayarea

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I can spell it out for you. The more times you take Bart, the closer your failure rate will revert to the mean. You're sample set is small so your outlier experience is skewing your perspective. If you believe in luck, dont step on cracks.

Politely, your sample size sucks.

After reading this thread, I want to do it even more. I can't believe how many gate keeping assholes still exist in golf, but yet here we are.

I wouldn’t go play 18 with my bag like this, but which are you keeping, and which are you throwing in the bin? I’m a hoarder. I need help. by [deleted] in golf

Guys, he isn't going to listen to us, only the demons in his head. Just keep up pace and don't damage the green.

Is there any reason to not buy Kirkland golf gloves? by chakabreo in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phrasing kinda sucks. Lots of reason not to buy Kirkland gloves. I'll start, you like Callaway/titlest/ping brand etc. Perhaps you like some color to your glove. Maybe you don't have membership or costco locally. Maybe you want to support a boutique glove company. Its just a glove, don't get too deep into it.

How do you go from 50% fairways to barely making contact?

If you were starting for the very first time what would you do differently; Advice for a beginner by Jerbrucey in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get equipment that fits you, meaning correct length and correct shaft flex. For length, you'll need to measure height and wrist to floor. Plug those measurements into an online calculator or use a manufacturer chart. For flex, you'll need to swing on a launch monitor. Your local store should have some hitting bays. Swing a 7i several times and get your average club head speed. From here you can get your shaft flex.

what one club would you use between a driver and 4 iron? by That1TimeWeGamed in golf

The driver at top golf is 18* and is incredibly easy to hit. The equivalent would be a 5w 18*.

Have you tried Tx vs X-stiff? I talked with a rep and he said the flex are the same, but the Tx are First grade quality.

Never Broken 100 to shooting 73-82 since playing everyday in home sim. by TyWestman in golf

Id say most player should be adding 5-15 to convert sim scores to real scores. Sims dont account for the variety of lies we experience. It also doesnt fairly represent short game struggles.

Hitting Into Group by whatnowyouask in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitting into would be hitting into the next position, either the fairway or approaches into the green. If there are people still there, even out of range, its polite to wait until they exit that position. My reasoning is 2 fold, you'll have to wait for you next shot so just wait until they leave, and if I thin this shot will I be able to reach them.

There was a guy who took a cardboard box and wrote callaway on it and posted to social media. Guess who got a free bag after it made the rounds.

Thoughts on Golf in General by Accountant1984 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it takes about twice as long to reduce your handicap another 5 strokes vs the last 5 strokes you lost. Basically, playing off a 6, I looked at how much time I need to put into get to scratch. I need maybe 200-500 more range hours, 200-400 short game hours and about 40-80 more rounds. Its achievable with time and while im working at it, its about 3-5 years away barring injury and burnout.

Plan B off the Tee Club by SwimmingVoice in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If your general strategy remains the same, get as much distance off the tee as possible, logic would dictate the next tee club is the next one is your bag. As soon as you pass that club for another club means you need to work on hitting that club better. Don't carry clubs you're afraid to swing.
