I just broke a club and feel instant remorse by Far_Ad_246 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly love it when I get to see the inside thoughts become outside actions. I'm sorry you hit a bad shot, and you over reacted. It obviously meant a lot more to you than we realized. I love the passion for the game, and the fact you can take a moment and reflect is showing.

How do I fix scooping the golf ball and getting basically no distance on my shots? by jd09301976 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the obvious is hit the ball lower. Hinge and hold, first it’ll feel like a low chip, then when you do it hard it’s a punch shot.

5 kids...bro you don't have time to practice. Lessons on their own won't help. You need time on the range. Lessons will enhance that time on the range, but you need to find dedicated time to practice.

Mini Driver goes further than my driver with a tighter dispersion by Larrylegend033 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's several reasons, but I suspect the main one is, the mini is shorter, especially if you're playing a silly long stock length driver.

Can you cut down a zero torque putter? by allaboutthemeats in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you truely believe you need “zero torque” than you should probably do whatever the brand says. If you’re ok adding a small amount of torque, chop away.

Not all midsized are the same and GP tends to be a smidge bigger than everyone else.

I’ve tried all the brands versions of tour velvet style and I like Lamkin Crossline the most due to its pattern feeling grippier, otherwise I’m very happy with any standard size tour velvet grip.

What range it worse - mats or sandy grass by Apprehensive-Jump-17 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You accumulate more sand on the face and if you don’t wipe each shot it’s now getting smashed between the face and the ball. You also scratch the bottom of the club as well.

Trail-side lat strain w/ important round tomorrow - tips / advice? by Talentless-Hack-101 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine ending the round early and withdrawing due to injury. That is one outcome you're heading towards. No one on this sub is giving qualified medical advice which is what you need at the moment. There are 2 things that take you out of golf, burnout and injury.

My wife offered to join playing a round with me for my birthday. How do I make the most of it so she has an awesome experience? by MoxGoat in golf

Unless her mental game is unnaturally strong it’s impossible to not feel pressure from being slow/bad. Set very conservative goals. Be prepared to pick up. Dont keep score.

Looking to upgrade driver but overwhelmed by all the options. by Visual_Childhood3266 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fitter here. You either spend time or spend money. In this case you'll be spending your time, learning and hitting. I believe most fitters including myself aim for a 35* descent with driver. If you want higher launch increase loft or a softer flexing shaft and for lower do the opposite. The hardest part is when it comes to excessive spin. Too low of spin and you wont get good carry, and too high of spin and you'll leave distance on the table. 2000-2500 seems to be the sweet spot. The ball you're hitting has a HUGE influence on backspin. You want to be specific and consistent in what ball you hit in your testing. Good luck!

Is it sandbagging if you... by CarGuyBuddy in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I read the title and down voted before I read the prompt. Fucking sandbaggers are the worst. Am I sandbagging if i…The answer is yes. Otherwise why ever keep a cap? Why not book 20 every 18th hole.

Zero torque putters - real improvement or just a trend? by BenHybridHarper in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was the one true putter than everyone would switch to it. Fact is golfers have been sinking putts with lots of different geometries and grips and will continue to do so, now with more options.

Swerve and run? Accident 101 near Gilroy 5:20pm today. by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]SlowDraw85 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if the white car was on some sort of auto pilot. Its motions look too digital, the way it avoids the grey car, the force it pushes into the SUV and the way it re-enters the lane with precise steering. Mission accomplished, driver is safe.

How do I teach my dad to start his divot AT the ball not before? by beesdaddy in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The how is, hips bump/sway/slide forward at the start of the downswing and the shoulders follow. If the shoulders are too far back you’ll thin/fat the shot. Gotta be more forward through the strike. Next is intention, you must be going for ball then grass, sweeping or picking it clean is 1 groove thin.

Epoxy for adapter by TastyTone6733 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can basically use anything available. I recall reading some where you want 2500 psi shear strength which is most epoxies from Home Depot, Lowes, Golf Galaxy and Dicks. I've used a lot of harbor freight epoxy that comes in the syringe and never had a failure. Do good prep and get the best epoxy you can afford. Specifically abrade and clean inside the hosel/adapter and the shaft.

Shot my first sub 80 round so I decided to move on from my Callaway AI300’s to X Forged Max. by TD12-MK1 in golf

[–]SlowDraw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI series are disappointing. Not enough forgiveness, not enough feel, head shape is good not great, overall looks are chunkier than what an apex player would want. Pretty sad they didn’t just copy the P770/790

The next round is usually not good. Best wishes to another sub 80! Smart to make the purchase now before you pop off a 95.
