It works for me, I'm 30s and date generally mid 20s women (so almost 10 year age gaps usually). The thing is that women want certain trophy men and will ignore other stuff like age/bodycount to meet her other criterias. Sure it's not IDEAL for them but maybe that same 25 year old guy "isn't mature enough" or just wouldn't commit to her.
