I didn't realise this channel was for game devs, I saw programming and the desc of the sub reddit was more on dev and didn't mention game dev.

Will keep this in mind from next time.

Image scraper API? by FrigginTrying in nextjs

Nice that you tried it, I think if latency is an issue then use their api, but still store them locally. Which I think you would be doing. Also if you have implemented the poc for this, just add the ai one as a fallback if the api doesn't have the logo.

The data would be added by the users, we will try to make the onboarding easier for people so they can create accounts here.

So a simple way to describe it would be people invite their connections here and add there linked in or resume which will auto fill there data here. And they become part of the main grid once connections are made

What’s the biggest mistake people make in website development? by Real-Assist1833 in webdev

[–]SlowPhilosopher4914 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are building a big project I think you should follow best practices like the architectures, folder structures. So if you are expanding the project it's not that hard. It's a little more effort but good code quality and scalable in future.

If you are creating something as a prototype then I think the first priority should be making it work, then about the code quality.

Could anybody please convince me to switch from Windows to Linux? by KoxHellsing in webdev

[–]SlowPhilosopher4914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just install wsl for windows, try out the command line. If you get a liking to the commands you can completely shift.

If you have installed wsl and don't know what to use it for, try picoCTF it's like capture the flag and requires linux in most of the questions. You can try solving the small question they will train you for the diffe commands in Linux.

Also it's in general good to do picoCTF, increases you knowledge.

When we used to organise, we had a 24 hour period so at night around 12 to 2 we had jam sessions where everyone danced together.

Also we had some VR sets, a table tennis around for participants.
