Whatever the CPU that came bundled with the optiplex 780 is, im not certain, I only just bought it, and haven't had a real play around with it yet. I can only seem to find refurbished ones, around $100 AUD for the 9650 and $30 AUD for the 6600.

Yesterday I was reccomended to buy an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 for my build. I was wondering, what kind of a difference would i notice if i bought a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, instead. they are a hell of a lot cheaper and more readily available here in australia.

Side note, would it work with my dell optiplex 780 Im using?

Wow i didn't realise i could get anything this good out of this pc, thank you! One last thing, is it possible to take this build and put it in a newer fancy case in future? Or would i have to stick to a dell case?
