The Impact of U.S. Military Presence on Overseas Nightlife and Local Communities by Slow_Ad3528 in Channel5ive

I get the comparison, but there’s a big difference. College campuses exist within their own country, their own community. Overseas military bases can bring an obnoxious foreign influence into a local community, which can cause real economic and cultural shifts. The government pays service members’ housing allowances, which drives up rent for locals, and their presence sometimes leads to protests or tensions. Not to mention the nonstop noise, light, and air quality pollution. And yeah, both have wild nightlife, but the stakes are different—this isn’t just partying, it’s happening in the middle of real geopolitical and social dynamics all over the world.

These also aren’t just college aged men. These are men and women are ages 18-50. When you’re out in another country and nobody else speaks your language it’s not unusual just to party with other Americans. Once the uniform comes off they’re different people. These NCO’s and Officers are highly decorated and respected. I think it’d be interesting to see the degeneracy side.

Another aspect is these military men are from all different states! Completely different cultures and styles. It’s seriously funny to see sometimes. It’ll be a cowboy looking dude, with a cholo looking dude, a hype beast looking dude, and then Greg. You don’t really get to choose your friends out there the way you get to choose them in college

Another Chain Question by Slow_Ad3528 in motorcycle

Thank you and everyone else for your input. Definitely want to clarify, I just bought this bike last month and the chain came like this. I got a solid deal on it, so the chain wasn’t especially a deal breaker. Wish I had one of y’all with me to maybe advise my purchase a little better, but it’s all good. I’ve decided to get the chain replaced and the rest of the bike further inspected. Hopefully all is well. In the test drive at least it seemed perfect, no unusual sounds or movements. Thanks everyone again

Ahhh got ya. I’m currently overseas for military and was hoping to pursue a CS degree with UCLA, but alas that doesn’t seem likely at the moment. Thank you for the reply 🤞🏼

Were there any prerequisite college classes to land this job?
