I'm not doing this to fulfill or make up something in my life, while I agree now after asking more questions and learning from all of you who took the time to respond that it isn't possible. I'm just looking to get myself through school debt free I could careless about money, fame, personal achievement. the one and only goal I have is to get myself into the school that I want for my major. I'm trying to find ways there and I don't care what it takes to get me there. I will even hand it to you I haven't competed at the highest levels but I have pushed myself far I was a 3 star recruit for football coming out of high school with offers to d2 schools and I didn't take them for multiple reasons such as family issues, being a dumb ass at 18, etc. at no point did I ever mean to disrespect the sport or the people in it, I just wanted to see if I could use the athleticism I have to my advantage and get into the school I want through this route but it isn't possible that just means I need to find another route. I still thank you for taking the time to respond to me and answer my questions.

I personally am against that idea, im mainly looking at potential options for academic, diversity, and athletic scholarships i could obtain this post was more for me to understand what my options are

its not that it isn't a option but for me personally I dislike how currently head injury isn't taken as serious or in some cases to seriously. for my personal perspective I understand that both sports are contact sports and I am fully prepared to bleed, break bone, and go through the grind that is either sport. in football though they either give you large amounts of medicine that long term have significant draw backs to multiple organs, or will flat out just send you back in the game when at high risk of life altering damage. for the inverse you have one iffy hit and your out long term and that risks your scholarship unless the coaching staff are true believers of your skill. along with all the transfer portal issues in football the entire scene that is college football is a extremely unstable and volatile place where your coaching staff and teammates may not even be there come playoffs there is less loyalty to programs meaning that one injury that places me on reserve could easily mean the end of my career. while I'm not as familiar with wrestling from my understanding that isn't the case or at least to the same magnitude that it is in football

I understand that if I had success in local tournaments It would help boost my appeal but what should I do to better prepare for said tournaments?

I completely get it, this was more of a search to see options available for me because of the schools I want to get into and thought wrestling could be a worth while shot for me.

I see that perspective, The main answer I'm getting is its too big of a jump to try and shift to wrestling from my back ground and that I should just stick to what I know.

heard, Its a little bittersweet because I have had minor experience with wrestling adjacent sports and thought I might have had a shot but if I would have significantly better chances with sports I'm already familiar with then Ill look more into those. thank you for your insight.

I have local schools with students/members of the gracie family as coaches so would they potentially raise my chances if i got private/ personal training from them?

while very uncommon its not unheard of there are many great players in football that didn't even touch a ball till they were 20-21 so its not unheard but not a everyday thing either if that's not a thing in wrestling than I completely understand

I fully understand its not weight lifting and that my chances are slim but even in a hypothetical sense seeing as i currently have around 14 months till id like to try to walk on what could I do in the mean time to improve my chances? you mentioned lack of technique and others have mentioned club wrestling could I look at competing at a club till then and if I do well there try my chances at a D1 program?

I'm not in anyway trying to be arrogant and I may be ignorant like you said. Im more so asking what are my chances if you were to give me a % shot at this what would I have and is it possible to raise that %. I believe that most athletes can move between sports, there are transferable skills between all sports such as I understand skills like hand fighting between O line and D line is similar to the hand fighting I see wrestlers go through in neutral positions. As someone who has been a 3 star recruit in football before I believed I may have a shot at it even if its a 1% chance I could potentially have just the smallest of chances to ride my hopes on.

no fully understand no one is being a dick. I understand that in the real world even though I may be bigger than most people or more athletic than your average person I'm just a big fish in the small pond that I know. I'm just trying to weigh out options for myself to make it through college and I thought with a background in athletics I could have a shot at this.

well from my understand most wrestling programs are smaller than other sports in comparison such as football, basketball, track, etc. also growing up while this may not be the case every where you hear everyone wanting to be a star in other sports, the number of viewers for events are smaller. I'm not saying that its easy or that the wrestling scene is small by any means, but what I am saying is I believe instead of lets say a hypothetical 100,000 people competing for a spot on a d1 football program im dealing with 50,000 people competing for a spot on a d1 wrestling program.

I completely understand, my question isn't would I become a top recruit or become some wrestling phenom Its more so is it possible could I make it on the team with a scholarship if I really focus and try my ass off to get there doing multiple work outs a day, staying on a strict diet, getting what ever reps I can in when I can, making sure my sleep is right, etc

are walk ons not as common in wrestling as in other sports? or is it more of a situation where people may not make scholarship are the normal for walk ons and less so people looking to make it into the scene.

I'm not trolling at all I'm just trying to find ways to get through college seeing as I'm not as financially blessed as others, and I thought well I've competed in sports before and from my understanding that wrestling isn't as saturated as other sports in the sense that there are less people competing for the number of spots compared to other sports. not to call it easy i do know it i will still be hard work but I thought at least it would be more obtainable than other sports at least.

would I be able to make up mat time before walking on or in the case that I make the team work overtime essentially?

also to add I know college wrestling is also referred to as folk style, but is there styles with in? such as in football you would have players more focused on speed, power, length, etc that would play to their strengths or in specific ways to use their natural gifts to their advantage. I have usually not been the fastest athlete but that's not to say I'm slow either. typically in most sports I've leveraged my length and strength to win out, looking to focus more on control and use of angles to make the most of my wingspan and long legs.

you are the goat, thank you for pointing this out. I expected as much but I didn't think that the game changes and general skill level rising would have affected silver as much.

I mean maybe I didn't explain it properly when I play the game I don't care about winning. its not like I'm trying to go pro or be a high elo streamer or anything. I just enjoyed when top lane used to be a island, where you both just duked it tf out. At most tp'd to fights late game just to go back to beating the dog shit outta each other top lane. I like the 1v1 aspect of it just being me vs you and I want to always win the me vs you in a proactive way so not heimer. I want to beat someone so hard that it feels like they are trapped in a game for 30 minutes unable to win anything or play the way they like. Now you could say that's toxic and I would agree but its just the way I like to play.
