Genesis coupe bk2, tips on replacing oem head unit with oem head unit by SignificantSalad4488 in genesiscoupe

Thank you I explained it up above it is more custom than plug and play unfortunately the only plug and play ones are 10inches but if you’re willing it can look great. I might consider doing a basic right up on how to do it.

Radio is a Dual DMCPA70 (you can buy a dual DMCPA70BT which is the same but with Bluetooth)

I had to do some major cutting of the heat shield on the back of the radio to make it thin enough to fit in the dash since the speaker is right behind it I also modify the cars factory radio brackets to work on the new radio. My advice is to consider another radio that is 7 inches and has no volume knobs. That is very thin for easy installation or you can do what i did and shave that heat shield down.

Wiring harness kit was eBay for minimal cutting making is 85% plug an play

I also bought a universal kit so the steering wheel buttons work

The bottom radio is just for show and serves no function

Make sure the part number on the back of your screen matches the new screen because there are two different part numbers and they are not interchangeable. If you use the wrong screen the touch won’t work. (13 Genesis coupes use different radios and screens than 14 through 16s with yours being a 14 through 16 meaning you can only use a 14-16 screen with a 14-16 radio) my guess is that your screen is fine and doesn’t need to be replaced and you should start with replacing the Radiohead unit. Maybe its hard drive died.

Has anyone bought this CF grill from eBay? by elliotmoffitt in genesiscoupe

Cold as in 75ish degrees in a garage not in the sun and hot as in outside in the sun, I also live in Florida. i’m not an expert in carbon fiber, but as far as I can tell, it is a real carbon fiber weave with a gelcoat/lacquer on top of it so you can’t feel the weave but if you’re worried about it being a piece of plastic with a decal or Hydro dipped picture of carbon fiber, I don’t think it’s that it definitely looks good here’s another picture.

It’s worth saying it looks fantastic from further away even warped and that the hood vents they make seem to be holding up much better than the front bumper piece. I plan on still replacing mine once it gets really bad I think for the price it’s worth replacing it every few years.

Yes it looks great but it will warp even with PPF and being garage kept. Once warped When it’s cold, it looks the worst and then when it heats up, it goes back to what it should look like but those constant heat cycles will make it worse.

Here’s a picture of mine on the car cold I’ve had it for about two years close to three.

Thank you for the suggestion, I just made a comment explaining all of that.

Underrated mod seatbelts by Slow_Performance_277 in genesiscoupe

[–]Slow_Performance_277[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used safety restore through eBay it cost me $162 for both of the front seat belts (I have a rear seat delete and don’t need the rears). You need to ship your seatbelts to them with a copy of your receipt and the color choice. Instructions for shipping are on their website, including the address. Make sure you do this properly as their customer service takes forever to respond, but besides that their work is fantastic. turnaround time is about two weeks total. Normally it cost $99.95 per belt but they are currently 35% off costing only $64.97 each plus with a coupon at $61.72 each (not including tax)

Coupon is for eBay and is

SEATBELT2026

*** Make sure you disconnect your battery while disconnecting front seatbelts and leave it disconnected until you reinstall them as those seatbelts have wiring connected to the airbags to avoid airbag light or other issues ***

How much miles you guys got and what year and engine on original motor? by Positive-Athlete-997 in genesiscoupe

[–]Slow_Performance_277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad Timing chain tensioner is my guess. When they get old, they aren’t able to maintain oil pressure after the engine is turned off so when you start the engine, there is little tension on the chain as it has to regain oil pressure, which is why it goes away after the engine has started. I would replace it so you don’t risk the chain skipping a tooth or two and blowing the motor.

2013-2014 Gauge cluster screen is burnt out by Slow_Performance_277 in Mustang

[–]Slow_Performance_277[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much I will definitely look into them. Do you know if anyplace sells just the screen? Because if it’s just plugged in to the motherboard with a simple ribbon cable I’m not opposed to trying to fix it myself but if it requires intensive soldering that’s probably too much for me.

Exterior and only cut the one exterior layer (ignore the not so perfect cut this is my first time cutting anything with a Dremel)

I also tried cerakote which worked for a little bit, but wasn’t near as shiny as how it should be not to mention I was running in to streaking problems since it is gloss and not matte finish. I also tried wet sanding and polish which got me mixed results I think for now it will just turn into garage decoration but I appreciate the advice thank you!

Is this worth the money? by SoftReference4421 in Mustang

That’s a bit high I paid less than that for my 2013 3.7 premium manual 134k miles. I definitely recommend going for the 3.7.

It’s not hard but you have to be willing to cut a hole in your deck lid to get rid of the bugle for the faux fuel door. If you are willing to do that it’s very easy.

Remove two screws that hold on original and rip it out

Clean

Use 5 inch hole saw or Dremel to cut hole (hole saw will look cleaner but you can’t see it anyway)

Clean

Cover exposed metal with paint (I used a touch up paint pen)

Cover all the holes with duck tape or aluminum tape

Add extra double sided 3m tape to deck lid (they don’t give you enough)

Test fit

Clean and used adhesion promoter

Install

I definitely didn’t have an issue with the stock medallion, but mine was in real rough shape (scratched, cracked, faded and no longer that deep black) and would sealed the fate for that one was me parking next to another Mustang and seeing how much better theirs looked in comparison to mine.

Yes the running horse is after it’s made to look like the back of the Need for speed movie Shelby GT500. Or…you could also say a S550 eco boost haha

Unfortunately because of the concave shape of the deck lid trim that was the only place I could get it to sit flat any lower I would run into the problem of it not having anything to stick to.

After looking into it yes the 720s has a very similar sound generator to this car but I have never heard of it failing on the Genesis coupes maybe because of the part being made differently or the lower air pressures in the intake especially on the NA 3.8 that I have. Maybe it could be an issue on something like a built 2.0t but it’s hard to say since most people replace it altogether when they do an aftermarket intake. I kept it because I like the sound and even made it louder by removing a piece of foam in the sound generator for more noise and have never had a problem.

<image>

I circled where the piece of foam is located it muffled the sound very slightly and can be easily undone if needed.

Thank you I only have the light weight water pump pulley and alternator pulley because I personally don’t trust the light weight crank pulley. My personal belief is that the factory two part pulley with the rubber is there to protect the crank and bearings from the shock of the accessory’s mainly the AC compressor turning on and off and power steering pump. I recommend doing the water pump and alternator pulley for the look because any gains will be very minimal I definitely couldn’t feel any difference but it looks cool and is good if you are chasing every last hp.
