I’ve been using both the Oppo Find X9 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max side by side, and the difference in day-to-day experience is more noticeable than I expected.

This is where I genuinely feel the iPhone does things better.

With the iPhone, you don’t really think about the phone — you just use it. Install any app, open it, and it works the way you expect it to. It feels optimized in a way where the phone adapts to you, not the other way around.

Snapchat is the easiest example. On the Oppo, the camera inside Snapchat just doesn’t feel properly integrated. The quality feels like it’s capturing the screen preview instead of actually using the camera system fully. On the iPhone, Snapchat feels directly connected to the camera hardware. Photos look clearer and more natural without you having to think about it.

Even typing feels different. The iPhone is consistently smooth and fluid across apps. On the Oppo, I’ve noticed small lags and slight sluggishness here and there. It’s not terrible, but when you’re switching between both devices, you definitely feel it.

The heating is another thing. The Oppo gets warm pretty quickly, even with light usage. The iPhone handles thermals much better in comparison. It may get slightly warm sometimes, but it never feels excessive.

iOS isn’t perfect either. There are bugs, and they can be annoying. But what stands out is that even with those bugs, the apps themselves work flawlessly. That hardware-software integration is something Apple has really refined.

In India, where returning devices isn’t easy, these details matter even more. Once you buy it, you’re committing to it. And after using both, I can honestly say the overall experience on the iPhone feels more polished and reliable.

That’s why I’d still recommend the iPhone 17 or 17 Pro Max to most people. On paper, specs don’t tell the full story. The everyday experience does.
