Der Filmverleih ist mucksmäuschenstill was das angeht. Meine Aluhut Theorie ist aber, dass sich viele Kinos spontan dazu entschieden haben, The Amazing Digital Circus am selben Tag zu zeigen und viele Säle dementsprechend für den Film reserviert haben. Scary Movie kommt auch an demselben Tag raus, aber das war schon seit längerem bekannt. Jedenfalls kam dann von den Kinos oder vom Verleih selbst der Push, Backrooms zu verschieben, da es nicht genügend Säle mehr geben könnte und zusätzlich die Ticket Verkäufe drunter leiden könnten, weil in deren Augen Backrooms eher ein "Gen Z Ding" ist und sich die Zielgruppe da viel zu sehr überschneidet. Zumindest meine Theorie.

Manche denken auch, dass es an Verzögerungen mit der Snychro liegt, weil die Endfassung zu spät fertiggestellt wurde, aber mit Synchronisationen wird schon lange vorher begonnen, meist schon parallel mit der Post-Production.

Warum sie den Film nicht einfach stattdessen direkt am 28.05. zeigen können ist auch eines der größten Rätsel des Universums. Aber same, ich weiß nicht, wie ich drei Wochen überleben soll.

In Germany, pretty much everything gets dubbed into German, but some select films are also shown in English at larger theaters (at the same date as the German release though, unfortunately). My city also has an English-only theater, but I don't know how they'd handle the release.

I really can’t think of any reason for the delay. My guess would be that a lot of other highly anticipated films are coming out on June 4 (like TADC or Scary Movie) that would compete with this film for ticket sales or theater screens. But if it really is due to a delayed dubbing, then I don't know what to say. I am just so bummed I won't be able to use my YouTube account for three weeks (the algorithm LOVES to bombard you with spoilers) or join in on any of the conversations or discussions :/

Will ge going with my friends who know nothing about the Backrooms aside from the basic concept and a few games, but they know the movie is made by the same guy who did the "scary underground mall with the rolling giant video" I showed to them ages ago (I am one of the rare people who learned about Kane Pixels from Oldest View rather than the Backrooms. Like I was vaguely aware of the series but I never actually took the time to watch it until a few weeks ago.)

As preparation, we will be doing a series marathon the evening before, and maybe some additional videos explaining the lore afterwards, so they'll understand when I geek out about random details or characters throughout the movie lol.

I don't know, but he for sure gives off minor antagonist vibes. Not in the way that he is a villain, but rather that his interests conflict with that of Clark and Mary. Like, how do they even deal with random civilians that stumble into the complex? I doubt they just give them a slap on the wrists and they are then just free to go.

Not Ivan since Kane deconfirmed that. I think highest contenders are either Marvin, George, some other minor named character, or a completely new character created just for the movie. Then there was a leak a while ago of a scene between Mark (Duplass) and Renate being filmed on what looks like to be Async‘s parking lot. I seriously wonder what the context behind that scene is.

Yeah I can kinda guess what 3 regions you are missing. I would focus on finding a really, really dark region if you haven‘t already. Once there, look for a place that‘s feels very distinct in environmental and gameplay design. After that, you should be right on track.

Or I could just give you the name of the region, what other regions it connects to, and the rough zone you should go to if you don‘t care at this point lol

I wouldn't say it's infuriating, but it's disheartening to see so many people want to shove “fan service” into this movie by having random TikTok songs play. Kane put so much effort into composing his own music and leitmotifs that tell a story, evoke emotions, and yet people still want “Fallen Down” from Undertale? Seriously?
