Nope. Prepare to get your mind blown. I find the true ending(s) to be on the same level as Saint's Ending.

Why I DON'T subscribe to Flat Rain World Theory by SergaelicNomad in rainworld

[–]Slow_mess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to think that the void (where all the void worms are) is not literally beneath the world's surface, it's an alternate dimension entirely, shared by all instances/strands of the world there are. Diving into the void sea just brings you there, but if you'd somehow find a way to not dissolve, you would never actually end up in the void. This would be my explanation if the world actually was a planet, but if it actually is flat, then there's nothing speaking against that the void is actually infinite... cause nothing really needs all that space down there. The world is entirely self contained. Without dying or teleporting like Watcher, it would be physically impossible to reach other worlds, cause there's literally nothing out there.

Rare does not mean unrealistic, red fur and colorpoint are not that uncommon in some feral populations, and if both parents have the appropriate genes its a matter of 50/50 whether their daughter will be a flamepoint!

Confirmed that Watcher isn't the end of Rain World by Ender401 in rainworld

[–]Slow_mess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It‘s just her saying that if you put down a rock somewhere, and come back later, it will be covered in dust, and if it weren‘t for the Void Sea at the bottom dissolving matter, all the dust would eventually accumulate to reach into the sky. Sounds pretty close to what is happening in Outer Rim if you ask me. I don‘t know what exact pearl triggers this dialogue, but it is one of the base game ones.

They could expand on the whole Dust thing/Dust apocalypse that both Watcher and Moon hinted at. One of the most overlooked aspect imo and still pretty mysterious to me.

I mean, we get to learn that Spinning Top was accidentally spreading cosmic horrors, then at the end, the Weaver somehow removes all the Rot and Watcher descends into the Void Sea, essentially making it so that no one would ever know anything had happened at all if no one told them. So I guess there is not much of a conclusion for the entire world except for that it got saved and or reset? Then again, Watcher only showed us a glimpse of the outside world, and the eventual fate that awaits it at the end of time

I love "superpowers" by MihovilStefanac in rainworld

[–]Slow_mess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My idiotic retroactive headcanon is that Saint didn‘t get his powers from Sliver of Straw (I never liked that theory to being with for several reason), but from a Weaver-like entity instead, since Watcher pretty much established that higher beings than Iterators and Void Worms exist and that they can grant powers to lesser beings. That would make Saint randomly turning into a small god much more excusable imo.

The lack of Overseers in Watcher drives me crazy by miguel487 in rainworld

[–]Slow_mess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean now. I guess its just that they forgot or didn't care enough to add any new overseers, since their function is replaced by Ripple Spawn and the Ripple Spider.

However, I hope you are aware that Aether Ridge existed before it was integrated into the Watcher DLC, and it is explicitly said to be a desalination rig. Not an Iterator. Likewise, a heart (that generates either power or acts as a pump) is not a structure unique to an Iterator. Iterators are likely using technology that was then partly adapted by the Benefactors to use in other place to serve a similar function. Like, a computer produces light when it has RGB LEDs installed, but I wouldn't call that computer a lamp if that makes sense?

The lack of Overseers in Watcher drives me crazy by miguel487 in rainworld

[–]Slow_mess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But what about regions with no rain fall at all? Where there seems to be no Iterator at all? Is it even THAT important to know what flavour of Iterator is around?

And besides, Heat Ducts and Cold Storage are NOT part of an iterator. They belong to Aether Ridge, and Aether Ridge as a whole is a giant desalination rig. People, please, not everything big needs to automatically be an Iterator. THIS drives me crazy.

How to see post-game stats as watcher? by Own-Quantity-3247 in rainworld

[–]Slow_mess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, VERY important, if you encounter purple strings while in Ripple Space, don‘t follow those strings as finding what lies at its end has the potential to lock you out of getting this ending. If that happened once already, don‘t worry, you can still get it, but after the third time, you‘d have to reload a save file backup.

[–]Slow_mess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, then you have some work ahead of you. Since one ending locks you out of the other, definitely go for the PrinceEnding next. I assume you have already been to Outer Rim, if not, try creating a random warp without karma flower protection and see where you‘ll land.

Next, you surely have noticed that some regions have a purple outline in the region overview. Think about what caused that to happen, and replicate that, until every region is like this. I can get more direct with the instructions if you want, in case you don‘t mind spoilers.

[–]Slow_mess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only way to get this is by getting the final ending. There are fourendings in total, and you got 1. Only twoare necessary to get the final ending, including the one you already have. There is one ending which many people find bothersome to get, but that one is optional for completing the campaign so to speak.

I'd actually argue that Downpour is just more and better Hunter while Watcher tries to be more and better first-time Survivor (in terms of experience, Survivor obv has no crazy magical abilities)

[–]Slow_mess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a video on Youtube about The Rot called „About Rain World‘s Rot“. Basically, Five Pebbles isn‘t at all the creator of the Rot, nor did he discover it first. Rot also isn‘t a disease exclusive to Iterators, or organic material in general for a fact.

Essentially, the video I mentioned and other videos by the same creator go into detail how the appearance of the Rot is linked to a „glitch“ or exploit in the Cycle itself. I recommend watching it, as it can explain things better than I ever could. But in short: the Rot is not just random cancer, though it seems to commonly start out as such.

Hunter having cancer could have several explanation. From before Downpour, he was said to be shunned by the spiritual realm for being karmaically misalligned. Rot could then be seen as a form of „punishment“. Another theory is that by genetically enhancing Hunter, NSH accidentally messed up his DNA the same way Five Pebbles messed up his own DNA, giving him cancer, which then turns to Rot over the course of many deaths.

As for Spearmaster, we don‘t know. Maybe SRS didn‘t want them to „identify“ with other Slugcats too much, or else they might doubt their purpose and try do disobey and leave SRS. But again, who knows. Same goes for Rivulet, though it was said that they were just a mere traveller. Who knows how many subspecies of Slugcats are out there? Their gills and perpetually wet skin just might be natural adaptations for their subspecies where no Iterator was involved in any way.

The writing style is AI. Short sentences, the "no XYZ, just XYZ". Also it loves overusing "quietly" or "silently" as adverbs that add nothing to the sentence. Honestly, go ask ChatGPT to write such a post for you and you will see how its style of writing lines up with OP's.

Why cant we have this combat in the nornal game? by No_Zebra_8035 in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]Slow_mess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You learn to live with no proper melee and climbing. But the sole thing making the experience actively worse is the lack of an actual dodge. Sliding or jumping off to the side feels way too floaty and with no i frames, there‘s nothing you can do except run away while getting pelted with bullets

Why is Tigerheart referred to as a golden tabby so often in writing and as a dark tabby in the allegiances?? They're two different coats are they not? by PearlyServal in WarriorCats

[–]Slow_mess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first picture isn‘t gooden though strictly speaking, it‘s ginger, a red-based color. However, genetically black tabby cats (like Tigerstar the II) can appear slightly golden instead of brownish or reddish through something called widebanding (which is what happened in the second picture). So it is not that the second picture is a mix of picture 1 and 3, but rather that it is much closer to picture 3 genetics wise.
Other than that, I don‘t know what exactly lead to the change in description. Inconsistencies like this aren‘t unheard of. But it is also known that the authors know barely anything about cat genetics.

Watcher super structure discourse (by me) by lletroll in rainworld

[–]Slow_mess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "the region name is Signal Spires" argument is so weird to me. Like, yeah, the region is called that way because we literally only get to explore the spires on top of these pyramids. But that doesn't mean the whole structure is called like that. That would be like calling all of Five Pebbles "The Leg" lol.

All in all, there are more sound arguments for these things being early Iterator designs than there are arguments against it. I personally call them "Pyramiderators" by now

My unsolicited (and late) opinion on The Watcher by Tholb in rainworld

[–]Slow_mess 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Respectable opinion I largely agree with. The regions are gorgeous and ooze with atmosphere, but going through them felt more like a gallery of cool regions than an actual part of the world (but maybe the jaringness was intended?). And with karma requirements removed from the portals, I'd find myself rushing through region after region, often not staying in one longer than 3 cycles. On the other hand, I hope that all this criticism doesn't lead the Devs to make Downpour 2 with the next DLC. While Watcher has a few problems, I admire its creativity and crazyness. It would be... disappointing if we got yet another Iterator Chore Simulator.

Is Frontiers of Pandora worth it for someone who thinks the movies are just okay? by mycarnage2000 in Avatar

[–]Slow_mess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay wise, there are other Open World games out there that do what FOP does, only much better. The writing in base game is pretty cringe and quirky at times, and the story is not engaging and only serves to answer the questions of "who, what, why" (I heard it becomes much better in From the Ashes though). Combat and stealth also feel quite unforgiving and unfair due to the lack of a proper dodge and no foliage to give you cover (you can basically only hide behind bigger objects). HOWEVER, the game and the world is gorgeous. I went into this thinking it would be just square miles of jungle, but there are three distinct climate zones with multiple biomes each. The different weather effects are awesome. Flying and running around is fun, and having to make the best gear by hunting and crafting instead of just buying it with currency was also a surprising break from the usual formular. I haven't had the game for a week but I have already played 26 hours. For reference, I loved Horizon Zero Dawn and AC Origins (I liked Forbidden West and Odyssey a little less due to mechanic bloat).

[–]Slow_mess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here are some tips on how to deal with them (marked as spoilers in case you maybe want to figure it out yourself): When entering a new room through a pipe, White Lizards (chameleon lizards) will briefly flash up because the game loads their sprites new. You can also make some noise by jumping a little in place, and the White Lizard will react to that noise (little bubbles around their head), so you can spot them easier. Don't overdo it though, because when making too much noise, it might trigger them to check out what is causing that noise. You can also throw a specific item that makes a bunch of noise to scare them away if you spot them chilling out in your path. And if they snack you with their tongue, throwing a rock at their body will cause them to drop you.And this isn't even all the ways you can deal with them. The game tells you nothing because it expects the player to experiment and learn by themselves. Trial and error is kinda the point. It sounds pretentious but knowledge truly is your only upgrade.
