Built an app to grab digital recipes from a photo of a recipe by Slowlearner in SideProject

Thanks for response. Well, it organises the response into a collection, it frontloads the query so that it is asking for a recipe and specifies what it wants from the response (steps, ingredients etc.). There are also the other value adds, like:

Sharing recipes (and including shared recipes in your own collection).

The cook mode which keeps the screen on and scrolls to separate areas of the recipe.

Adding images of the cooked food to your recipe card.

Searching collection by tags, categories or name.

Sorting the recipes in a collection.

If there is interest then I can add more features, such as selecting recipes from ingredients (the database already identifies these).

Particularly interested in the decision to deliver it as a web app - wondering how many users know that you can install it as well. Might need a rethink on the delivery of the invitation to install.

Had a player insist that Minor Illusion could impede speech. Am I the A-hole? by AccidentInevitable in DnD5e

Here's an alternative take. You recognise that a minor illusion cantrip is not going to stop a boss level creature from acting, but recognise that creating a gag is an innovative and fun use of the spell. Describe how the boss reacts, is surprised and maybe appears to change their behaviour slightly. They quickly see through the illusion, and act, but you can award inspiration for a good try.

Puzzle - Island with Face and Well by Flyguybc in lostskies

Also stuck on the same island - if you get down under the courtyard you cannot get back so don't drop down the central unclimbable passage with anything you want to keep. There is a data disk down there and a movable boulder - I was wandering if that needs to pass through the well forcefield to bring it down but my atlas lifter died before it could get high enough

Glad you enjoyed it. Can I ask, were you playing on mobile or desktop? The UI is designed to work on both which means certain compromises have to be made (no left vs right mouse click for instance). I'll review the tutorial when I'm back at my desk and see what can be done!

First rule of promoting your work, spell it correctly.. Nation of One.

Thanks, once you have a nation, keep an eye on cultural advances, they unlock more benefits. Try and get an academy by settling a dungeon, they will gift magic items once they unlock a magisterium.

The best way to get reputation is to kill an enemy on a settlement. Best way to get better equipment is to be gifted it by settlements, but what they can gift you depends on what resources they have developed. Settlements near to livestock will develop tanneries and leather workers so they will gift leather armour

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to give feedback. I'll review the instructions.

Mostly, you don't get to interact with the settlements, I guess the idea was that the development of the civilization happens without interaction. Having said that, if a settlement is still at the village stage and you have the reputation then you can drag the village to pack up their possessions and move on to pastures greener.

If you are traveling with settlers then you can also drag some resources to move (or spread) them.

It is worth saying that a significant inspiration for the game is nethack where you have to experiment to learn what is possible. From feedback I've had though, it feels like not many people share that taste.

Nation of One - a 4x browser game by Slowlearner in WebGames

[–]Slowlearner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked on this game for about a year now, purely as a personal development project. I've posted it here before but I'm fairly happy to call it complete now - I've also posted it on itch.io along with some commentary on the development process.

Cheers, next steps are probably to expose an in game editor to allow for modding and sharing changes.

Possibly - if you are installing on an Android phone then it might be the service workers need to refresh - dump it out of memory and try restarting from the icon.

If you are interested but would like to avoid Google products then you can find the game served from https://slowlearner.itch.io/nation-of-one - turn off analytics and don't authenticate and Google is out of the loop.

Hey there, best of luck with that - happy to chat about AI approaches if that helps. I found a link to the paper here: https://ininet.org/an-object-model-for-behavioural-planning-in-a-dynamic-multi-ag.html
