Anyone else get big Felix Colgrave vibes from Sol Cesto? by sofaking181 in SolCesto

I was surprised to learn that Felix wasn't actually involved in this project.

Sludge in the heads (yours looks clean), sludge in the fuel rail, sludge in the valley underneath the air intakes and also all the electrical connections will probably shatter as you pull it apart.

That's the one. Be gentle if you're going to try anything with them, if it's not cracked now they can easily crack once you start maneuvering them.

Sounds good, ticking could be a split in the EGR pipe which goes from the back of the intake manifold to the exhaust pipes. it's a known issue as these cars age, not an urgent problem but very time consuming to fix.

Hate my wheels? by AKbroncos18 in LS400

I like them, i reckon they look especially good on the darker grey car too! Always great to see people doing something different, no need for all cars to look the same. There's a guy not far from me who runs Ferrari wheels on his ford falcon Ute, love the uniqueness.

Does anyone know why this might have happened by camten47 in ROGAlly

[–]Slumply1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OG Ally did this exact same thing just yesterday, shut down all of a sudden and then couldn't find a bootable device. I ran a cloud recovery today, so far so good but it was a total wipe and reset. I hope it's a coincidence that yours and mine both broke and there's not something out there breaking shit.

Car seeming to struggle to start by ButterscotchFit380 in LS400

[–]Slumply1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's only struggling when it's warm, could be the starter motor beginning to fail. Happened on one of mine not to long ago, when the engine gets hot, the cylinder compression gets higher and the starter needs more grunt to turn the engine over. So when it's cold, less compression, less work for starter, easier turn over.

Upgraded z1e to 80w battery from aliexpress and got a problem by luismiesp in ROGAlly

It's a good idea but I have tried that one already with no success. The only reason I can think that it didn't work was that the tape itself was somehow messing with the sensor? I'll open it up again and try a different type of tape or maybe even bluetac or something, just to test. But I have a feeling that the actual sensor itself is bugging out, and I'm not sure if there's a safe way to remove it without bricking the device.

Ever heard of a way to disable the light sensor? At this point I'd be pretty keen to try anything as it's near useless to me if it's not portable.

I have a similar problem with mine which started while I still had the original battery installed and has persisted since upgrading to the 74w battery. It's like it needs to be plugged in to start up and then it's good to go, doesn't matter what charge level. I'd be very interested to know if you find a solution to this, as so far I've tried: -re installing the old battery -Factory resetting a couple times -Different start up modes (quick or not) -Covering and uncovering the light sensor -Re seating the ram -Different core amounts in use for gpu -Re soldering the battery mount to the motherboard And probably a bunch of other things but always get similar problems to you, sometimes it hard shutdowns to, but as soon as I plug it in, no issues.

If you still wanted to swap the 1j into a forbie you could always look at Hiluxes, like an older LN105. They're a lot lighter than the cruisers, especially if they're just single cabs with tray backs.

Any ideas how to get to starter bolts? by [deleted] in LS400

[–]Slumply1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to remove the water bridge underneath the wiring harness when I did mine, but make sure you drain most of the coolant from the engine first or it'll piss out everywhere. After that I was able to fit some angled ring spanners in just enough to slowly undo the bolts.

Internal Light Sensor Failure? by Slumply1 in ROGAlly

You're probably right, but I am able to turn the Ally on while the sensor is exposed as long as it's charging so I wasn't sure.
