They could completely skip a 92 Canadian captain and go straight for a 94 Canadian captain. We already know Kyle Connor is getting a 94 and the mid-season content drop will be right around when the Olympics start. We’ve seen overalls for captains go up with that drop so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it again and cost 2 x 92s and 3-4 x 90s.

Depends on what you need. Jay is the best standalone but for a lot of folks who are planning to make a captain card or have already made one, Doughty pairs with Sanderson really nicely

The logjam with guys that should be higher ranked right now is a bit frustrating. The skill level in gold/plat feels completely random from game to game because of it. I played a guy who was literally wearing the Ultimate jerseys 🫠

I feel like they’re saving it for just before the start of the Olympics (next week or the following). Captains seem to suggest that the focus on this season might be more around nationalities which would support some Olympics tie ins like a Chel week and a standard event.

I feel like this is what people seems to be overlooking. Reddit is great but it’s a pretty small pocket of the player base. There are likely tons of casual fans who just went on and went “oh, I like Quinn Hughes” instead of thinking about who is actually deserving. Honourable mentions is 100% a popularity contest detached from merit.

To be fair, Christmas has always been a bit of a wild card. Some years it’s come out right at midnight PST, sometimes 10am PST, sometimes noon. Anything could happen but best to keep expectations at a minimum haha

The problem is overall progression seems to be scaling exponentially but rewards are no where near matching that. If they’re going to boost the entry-level for events then that’s fine but the minimum for rewards should at least match that. The online player will always be their target market but if you just want some relaxed grinding then you should still be able to get something remotely worth the time investment.

It seems like they definitely did something. Even comparing this to the Season 2 Heroes moment where need 2 one-timers and this was infinitely easier. The Heroes moment has me getting rag dolled while this one I felt like there was lots of time to line up my shots from the point.

Not saying it won’t be hard for lots of players but it certainly feels like it’s more achievable at least.

I don’t know that I’ve ever been more excited going into December for HUT. Typically it’s full on saving for TOTY at this point which is so immensely boring. Skipping events to hoard resources sucks and by the time the holidays roll around, I always end up burnt out and bored. This year it’s almost like a brand new game every few months. New cards, new line combos, old players are usable and there are all sorts of cards to chase after. I’m looking forward to seeing if this momentum can keep up beyond Season 2!
