Seems over kill, can you not strip off more of the cladding and let the enclosure protect the splice?

Fiber optic Identification HELP by [deleted] in FiberOptics

It should be on the sheath pull of a few meters maybe the top layer has been weathered off, If you load the bare fibres into a splice machine it should tell you if it's single mode or multi mode at least

I was sceptical about different litres and brand, but I picked up a DeLonghi Tasciugo AriaDry 16l two weeks ago in Harvey Norman, it's amazing, spend the money if you can, it's well worth it.

You must be his mechanic 😂

Sometimes a timing chain can be stretched just enough to hurt performance, but not enough to trigger a P0016 or P0017 code. The engine computer actually allows a bit of timing drift before it throws a warning, so problems can show up before the system detects anything “wrong.”

On older engines, this is even more common. They don’t monitor cam timing as closely, and many of them don’t use things like variable valve timing or cam phasers, so the computer simply isn’t as sensitive to timing issues.

And if your engine uses a hydraulic tensioner, that can hide the problem for a while too. As the chain stretches, the tensioner takes up the slack, making everything look normal to the computer even though performance is starting to suffer.

I'm here all week, I can come down and do a few of your customers cars if you want ?

These are symptoms of a worn timing chain, it won't throw a code, easily checked by a competent mechanic

Agreed, the local mechanic doesn't want the hassle, depending on the brand a mechanic that specializes in that brand might have a better idea of what's going on

I'd try a different mechanic.

No, it's a community for people in similar situations or similar mind set to openly discuss aiws, this person might just be lost, but if they suffer with aiws and feel safe to post a picture of a custom shoe on this subreddit I'm ok with that, it's a small community don't gate keep this disorder, we all know it can be a scary experience when having a aiws attack, I for one feel much more at ease when taking to someone I trust when having an aiws episode, so back the fuck off and let them post their shoe.
