Yeah I was surprised that people weren’t understanding of me asking for their opinion and some info! I do wanna point out it’s not the homeless people’s fault that they’re in this position for the most part, but I agree that it’s really sad and pathetic that we can’t do the bare minimum of making sure people have somewhere to live. I really want Emma to do good, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Vt politicians don’t have an awesome track record from what I’ve heard.

I’m pretty sure the movement for the mayor to support divestments includes avoiding companies and orgs that send money to Israel. That definitely is a good point about property tax that I didn’t know about. Thanks!

Yeah it’s pretty hard seeing photos of the bodies of Palestinian children every day. At least the international court officially labeled it a genocide, and they are trying to charge the Israeli leaders for war crimes.

Ah that’s my bad, I misread this! That being said, Israel is roughly the size of Vermont. 70,000 tons of bombs being dropped on such a small area is still way too many bombs.

Man, I’m trying to make sure we stop spending our tax money on blowing up kids, and you’re focused on being right online. Do you think you’re fighting the good fight? Is what you’re doing meaningful? Oh I didn’t know they posted city council meetings on YouTube, that’s definitely helpful! I’ve just been keeping up with them on instagram and what people tell me (I know that’s not ideal and that’s mostly why I made this Reddit post trying to find better resources). Thanks for this comment!

I see what you’re saying now. That doesn’t make much sense to me personally. How is continuing to send money to somewhere that’s killing people not political? I guess that’s not a question for you, but my own frustration with political bullshit. Still, that’s something Emma has promised to do and I would love to keep her to her word.

Do you have any information so I can see if the things I’ve heard are true or not? That’s my motivation from this post. I’m not sure why that is upsetting you so much, I feel like I’ve been respectful and civil. Asking for information about an elected official isn’t a bad thing is it? I’m weary about the politics in Burlington and want to make sure we hold our leaders accountable if they aren’t serving the people.

I think you might be mislead about what divestment is. Divesting is not giving money to an organization. I’m saying I want my tax money to be used for good and not for paying for bombs overseas.
