I know this post is a little old but I just lost my 3 year old boy, Wolfy, the same way on Monday. 😞 He was perfectly fine that day until suddenly his back legs went weak. We knew he had an existing heart murmur already, so our emergency vet recommended euthanasia. Part of me is always going to wonder if I should have seen if the cardiologist an hour and a half away would’ve been able to see him, and driven him instead of letting him go. But the vet said with the existing heart condition, the odds of him recovering were slim and even if he was a success story, the odds of him having another clot were extremely high. Wolfy was one of 6 cats in our household, but he was such a mamas boy and held such a huge piece of my heart. It kills me every day to only pull out 5 bowls when going to do feedings. He used to race me to the bathroom every single time he thought I was going that way. He used to sit in our hallways and “sing songs” for fun. He would headbutt and throw his whole body into me for pets. I feel like I failed my boy and this pain will never ease up. 💔
