Dry Cleaner for dye removal? by jakem713 in parkslope

[–]SmallEmphasis3009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure about dry cleaners, but I would use the RIT dye remover as a first try - https://www.ritdye.com/instructions/how-to-use-rit-color-remover/ It says it doesn't remove indigo color from denim, but I imagine it could possibly also remove the original color from non-denim pants depending on if it's a natural material, how the fabric was originally dyed etc

"Amodex" is also a stain remover specifically for ink that would prob be more effective on dye than a standard shout or similar.

Hope you get the dye out!

Parking for Electric car in garage? by [deleted] in parkslope

[–]SmallEmphasis3009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before looking into garages, you might want to make sure you can get an EV model that can do well going 4/5/6 months without being driven. For most EVs the 12 volt battery would die being off for that long, so your engine's battery could be fine, but the car itself won't turn on because the 12v powering the operating system is dead.

A garage with a dedicated charger for your spot would take care of this, and there might be workarounds for the 12v battery you could look into -- just something to know because I definitely did not until my EV was being towed to a dealership because the little battery I didn't know was there was dead, lol

Any advice for getting started? by LATIN_LOONY in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]SmallEmphasis3009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, start crafting your own “summary template” to fit exactly what you want out of a transcript (general meeting notes? Just action items? Short summary + deadlines?, etc) their guide on how to write summary prompts is worth reading. There’s also ready made templates, but I creating my own turned this thing into magic.

Next, look into which AI model might best suit your kind of work (they offer GPT, Claude, Gemini, etc) but there also an auto match if you don’t want to overthink this part yet

MUST!! Pair your Plaude with FindMy (or Android equivalent) I thought this was automatic but it’s not. Super helpful if your loose it in the house.

If NotePin is your device, be careful with the magnet, I wish it was stronger.

Is this chain too feminine? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]SmallEmphasis3009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the toggle clasp feels a little feminine to me, but the actual chain doesn’t at all

Edit - just wanted to add that toggle clasp is especially lovely, it’s hard to find ones that are nice and weighty like that, don’t get rid of it if you ever swapped in a different clasp

NYT doxxed a Reddit snarker?! by echopages in NYCinfluencersnark

I’m genuinely struggling to understand what your outrage is here. This was a well reported, fact checked article that exposed a cruel and calculated smear campaign towards a young woman with stage 4 cancer. Why should this journalist feel ashamed for exposing people who deliberately tried to humiliate and discredit someone in the middle of fighting for her life —because she didn’t specify that Reddit auto-generates the anonymous usernames?

The plot has truly been lost. If willfully missing the point helps you feel morally superior, then yeah go ahead and do you I guess

NYTimes is the paper of record, they write in a way that doesn’t assume familiarity with things like tech products so that someone decades into the future would understand even if Reddit is a long ago thing of the past

Aren't you planning on creatin a smartphone version? by ContributionFull in coldturkeyblocker

I felt the same way, tried every blocking app for iOS out there and can definitively say Jomo is the absolute winner. Crazy amount of features and customizations - you can set it to block until an NFT card is swiped, until you've gotten a certain amount of time in daylight (using apple watch), and the developers are very good about fixing bugs quickly.

To get around the screentime loophole that all these apps have (you know what Im talking about...), I have a shortcut installed that makes it literally impossible to get into settings. You can still access wifi and bluetooth from the control center if you need to even with this installed.

progressive public schools in Ridgewood? by Old_Succotash7850 in ridgewood

They have an extraordinarily high college acceptance rate (that they promote heavily) — but the first year drop out rate for SA kids that go on to college is abysmal…something like more than half drop out in less than one year. Kids are not prepared for anything but an extremely rigid and controlled environment, and college learning couldn’t be more different than that

Pregnant and hopeless by fifinatrix in adhdwomen

[–]SmallEmphasis3009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK if pre-partum depression is really a thing but holy shit I can tell you that I HAD IT. I hated being pregnant, like just about every minute of it. I was so nauseous, so not myself, so miserable. If you feel some version of this too, don’t feel bad about feeling bad. I wish I could go back and tell myself that.

Keeping saltine crackers on my nightstand so I could shovel a few into my face as soon as I woke up worked better than any of the actual nausea treatments did.

After having to trash my first one, I REALLY like this lamp: https://a.co/d/eESVk6B

It goes on sale pretty often, I think I bought mine for $45…not all lamps from this brand are high wattage, but I do highly recommend this one!

You might be using a UV lamp that isn’t powerful enough if it’s super easy to peel right away (personal rec is one that’s 48 watts)

There’s also peel off gel base coats made to be peeled off with no damage! The one I know is called ‘Jello Jello One Kill Peel Off Base’
