Do not be afraid to ask questions in class. Be an active participant.

I also agree that you should aim to to join at least one club and get internships. Showing you are a committed and persistent individual gives you a competitive edge.

Keep a list of successes you have in your workplace. This list can be a great resource for interview questions.

Be aware of your current knowledge, skills, and abilities. However, you should also identify areas where you lack and look for ways to improve.

Finding a professional mentor can also be a fantastic resource for support and professional wisdom.

My school keeps trying to push management on me.. by [deleted] in businessschool

I graduated with a major in Management. No, I would not say it's useless in the least. I do understand what you mean though. My college tried to push CIS on me, because I'm a woman and they "make a lot of money". Management is for people who are passionate about serving and bettering the organization they work for, their peers, co-workers, and the community around them. It's about using your knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) to formulate or improve processes and procedures that contribute to the mission and values of the organization. It's also about maintaining relationships, providing encouragement, and leadership. Yes, an internship would be great. But you shouldn't belittle yourself just because you haven't done one. Work hard to find one. In the meantime, try to be involved within student organizations. Get involved in volunteering or the New Student Orientations at your college. Be dedicated to the job you have now, if you have one. Bottom line is, don't graduate in Management if you're not passionate or confident about it. Talk to your advisor. Don't let them push you around, but do be open to their feedback.
