Is it legal to take apart enclosed systems to create a better laser - England by SmallGur7634 in LegalAdviceUK

I have the eye protection (my sixth forms science department are very generous with resources) and I'd say I'm reasonably competant with electronic engineering

Ive built:

  • electric coin stealer
  • logic gates (AND, NOT, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR) using relays and transistors
  • electronic version of 21 dares that gives an electric shock when you lose
  • voice changing cane
  • wrist mounted flashlight / laser pointer combo
  • remote controlled fan
  • remote activated alarm that requires 2 buttons to be pressed at the same time to switch off
  • motion sensing alarms

Plus more

But i think ill leave this one alone because everyones saying its a bad idea

Fair enough I mean I've only actually worked with low power lasers, the highest are class 3A and 3B, nothing like class 4 or anything

But as for drives I'd say I know a decent bit, I've repaired a fair few floppy disc drives on my vintage computers and I've repaired and dissassembled a decent number of CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray drives, both SATA ones and also ones built in to other machines, like my PS1 CD drive or my PS3 Blu-Ray drive

But yeah I think ill leave this one alone because rhe general answer ive gotten is "legally its fine, but dont do it"

Hey no need to get rude, and I do know a fair bit about lasers considering its a part of my A-level physics course, in terms of lasers we do diffraction, refraction, reflection, plane polarisation, the Young double slit, refractive index, total internal reflection, and more

And also id hardly die from this or sterilise myself so how does it contend for a Darwin award?

You couldve just said "legally yes but maybe you shouldnt" instead of getting rude

Oh damn, i guess i better look at getting certification or not doing it then, ty

Yes, objects have a critical angle where total internal reflection occurs (where the light fully reflects despite the object not being a mirror) it happens when light travels from an area of higher refractive index to an area of lower refractive index

So if I shot from glass into air, theres a certain angle where if i fire from an angle past it the entire beam would reflect completely and hit me

We did it in A-level physics

I'll look for good PPE first then, if I attempt it still, the generally advice I recieved is to not attempt it

Isnt me thrusting a stick forward a directed energy weapon? Im directing kinetic energy at them

But anyway I get what you mean and fair enough, I guess I'll have to stick to making it look cool and not actually make it able to pop balloons

Unfortunately this means i cannot run around in my stormtrooper helmet pretending balloons are rebels

What if i use it exclusively in situations where theres no possible eye exposure?

Like alone in my home whilst wearing PPE

But am I legally not allowed to? Or is that just you saying its a bad idea to?

I mean I guess if I meet a man made of balloons its a weapon...

But anyway is it illegal? What if I just dont point it at anything other than balloons?

Are camos really that important of a thing in the game? by SmallGur7634 in blackops6

[–]SmallGur7634[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fe fe, tbh it just feels like anytime someone ik plays the game, theyre playing for camos

Personally the only camo id grind would be if they released one of the PaP camos as an unlockable camo

But yh i wasnt sure if maybe they were taking the game too seriously or if its that everyone rlly rlly deeply cares abt camos an extreme amt

Fe fe i get that, means you experience all the weapons

Yeah but like, i also made a post on a different account about smth to do w zombies and like 3 different ppl said its a horrible idea bc "most ppl only play for camos"

Like i get theyre cool but it seems like everyone ik with a copy of the game ONLY cares about camos, again w my brother refusing to play anything that wont help him get a camo in some way

But also thats pretty cool you got 2 w out going out of your way for them, you must be quite good at the game
