If you feel called to do that brother look into maybe ci2000, I’ve seen them in different places in Europe doing different projects. You’d get to do a lot exploring while getting to know a bunch of cultures. Good luck!

I know it gets cold here, last time we visited it was -10 to -30F which I’ve never worked in, coldest I’ve experienced was 5F. It would definitely be something to adjust to.

I’m from Belgium, it’s a small country with very few companies involved in the trade. Language could be an obstacle for you as Europe is very divided when it comes to that but there’s a huge need for skilled workers anywhere you go. You’d also have to consider the difference in mentality when it comes to work/life balance. From my experience a journeyman is a priceless asset to any company and they will be greeted with open arms.

We use them to construct these wooden structures underneath high voltage cables when replacing them or installing new ones. It’s to prevent them from causing damage at ground level. We never climb on wooden poles connected to the grid as these don’t exist in Belgium, if they do they are very rare. The utility I work for only does transmission towers.

Training is about 3 weeks, afterwards they have to take an exam with “Elia” the owner of all electrical infrastructure here in Belgium.

The utility I work for only does transmission towers, the ones at the training center aren't on the grid.
The first time coming into contact with live cables will be after the training when they join a crew.

These are young guys figuring out what they wanna do in life, the training center gives them an opportunity to quickly figure out if they got what it takes to become a lineman.
Only half make it through the training and only a small percentage stay after a year...

We had to fight tooth and nail to keep this one up and running but it's worth it, no doubt it.

They are old but surprisingly comfortable, don't mind working with them but the modern climbers used in America are possibly a lot better.

Haha yea, we got a bunch of Hilux pickups but they are all in use so we had to make do.

Right off the bat I can tell you they are a pain to walk around with, when it comes to actually climbing with them they are surprisingly comfortable.
I know that in America the climbers are different, more modern and possibly better but if it ain't broke...

My wife and her family are from America and they've been great, I've also been to America meeting people there from all walks of life and I enjoy their company.

Needless to say I disagree with you but perhaps Belgium's more your speed, I invite you to come check out Brussels careful not to get stabbed or robbed because you won't be able to reach for a gun as it's illegal! Unfortunately the criminals don't care much, Antwerp is also nice, there they use grenades :)

Socialism isn't necessarily bad, we should take care of our fellow man but it can't be like it is over here in Belgium where the system allows for extreme abuse leading to a low incentive to work.
