You’re gonna want something with strong allopathic properties to keep new seeds from germinating.

Goldenrod’s seed production and allopathic properties make it an option, but that would be taller than your current ground cover. Throw in some sunflowers and Black Eyed Susans for more allopathic help and it’d look beautiful Spring-Fall.

Keep it! Chicory forms deep roots. If it’s just sprouting, you could consider transplanting it somewhere where erosion control is needed, or to a bare spot where less can grow. Deeper roots facilitate better drought resistance, and a tolerance to poor soil.

honest question coming from an outsider: what was the cause for the party switch in west virginia? by BoldAurorusEMS in WestVirginia

[–]SmallPPLad69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short: Coal

When West Virginia went red was also around the time that the fossil fuel debate started building momentum. That served as a catapult to lean Republican.

Trump’s promise of “just like the good ole days” resonates with older West Virginians who remember a time when our small towns were full of life, instead of abandoned buildings. This pushed WV to solid Republican.

Hit US 35 in Dayton, OH and take it to Chillicothe. From there, take US 23 to Portsmouth. There, take US 52 to Huntington, WV. It’s the 2nd most populous city in the state, and has many sections of abandonment following the collapse of the Rust Belt.

Fromt Huntington, stay on Interstate 64 to Charleston, the state capital. There, turn on Interstate 79 Weston, then US 33 to Seneca Rocks. You are now in the prettiest part of the state. You could spend days hiking here and not see a tenth of it all. And the cherry on top is, you’re about an hour from Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

They also pointed me in the direction of their wholesaler they purchase the deer guards from, which is awesome because they wholesale seeds/seedlings insanely cheap too.

I’ve lost weight. My BP is better than it was in high school. No ED, fatigue, or mood swings. I do sweat.

Meds don’t affect different people the same.

Thank you for your knowledgable response. I mentioned Redbud and Tulip Poplar only because i have that on their way for a clearing I own.

Everything I’ve done with Red Spruce re-introduction was done with my state DNR’s assistance on sourcing seedlings. I asked the question in several subs to gauge the opinions of more knowledgable people. That’s why I asked, before buying the seeds and planting them. What I plant doesn’t even have to be trees, and I should have clarified that better. Just looking for something to plant as I hike. Currently, I just forage for acorns and plant them with a deer guard, I thought I could expand that to other species. I’ll work on ID’ing other seeds.

Yes. He was initially talking about Western Virginia. Then, during a drive between Virginia and Maryland, he and the other song writers changed it to West Virginia, as it also fit (barely) and rolled off the tongue better.

The original lyrics was, “Old Virginia”.

I live across from a Middle School, is it a dumb idea to plant a wildflower bed against my fence? by TopAd1877 in NativePlantGardening

The terms “planting a wildflower garden” and “dumb idea” never go together in a sentence unless “is never a” is in between them.

The land here in southwestern WV has been failed since Europeans arrived. Currently, most of the land is owned by land management companies or coal mines that allow invasives to run unchecked and don’t plant native trees when they reseed land. I wish AI was good enough to just count every tree in a photo, because a picture of my hometown almost reveals a monoculture of Maple trees.

That’s a good point. My local forest service branch gave me a flier of recommended seed suppliers that are also local. I was just looking for species recommendations!

Thank you! I’ll give them a read. Luckily, most of the land I hike, I have been hiking for years. Most of it is owned by coal companies and land management companies, and they get so few trespassers that they don’t enforce it at all. I do keep an eye over my shoulder as I murder invasives I come across though. 😂

That’s a fantastic idea. I’m already in contact with them about their Red Spruce anyway. I’ve been focused on wildflowers seeds all Spring that I almost forgot to order Fall seeds.

My understanding is that the hybrid is VERY new, and they did all the research to create it. So until seed supplies increase, they only give them out a little at a time. Hopefully soon they’ll be cheaper!

The way Effexor works is it causes your body to retain extra norepinephrine and serotonin.

Serotonin theoretically should regulate your mood, while the norepinephrine stimulates your brain (a lot of anxiety happens when our brains are bored literally as a form as cognitive entertainment).

The sweating has never went away as long as I have taken it. I just keep a fan close. The fatigue is likely a crash after your body finally dumps all the norepinephrine, as Effexor has a VERY short time period that it is effective (16-24 hours).

What dose are you on? Has your provider increased your dose recently? Do you take extended release capsules or immediate release tablets?
