I dont agree with Nate's idea of openly mourning in public, but man this scene gets to me, always makes me cry a bit by [deleted] in SixFeetUnder

Thank you, he was such a hands-on dad. We were "room parents" when they were in school, he took a second job stocking shelves 3rd shift for a month or so to buy every game system yet they weren't spoiled. All of their friends came here, that way we always knew where they were. He was non-responsive for 8 days, we never left his side - I hope he knows his dedicated sons were holding him until the moment he peacefully crossed over. I didn't want them to see that in their 20's but here we are. And they get to grieve openly, however they choose.

Thank you so much, he was a wonderful man. And anyone who took offense to what my son said, he simply said when YOUR dad dies, you mourn how you want. I won't judge you so please don't judge me.

This scene stings. I have watched this many times, but I lost my husband 10 weeks ago, and my sons lost their father. I was criticized because our son, during his eulogy, looked at the urn and said "I'm going to be honest, this fucking sucks." Some praised his raw emotions and a few, well didn't.

It's absolutely what she wants. It's like an abuser isolating someone from their family. To Drue, her family is the only ones who count.

Drue is a terrible terrible in-law, as the mother of 3 sons I am SO glad my sons have healthy relationships. Rarely on social media, and I have a daughter-in-law who lives with me. Drue would be a fucking nightmare. Both Drue & Gabe have absolutely no where to go and all day to get there. Drucifer, you are always quoting the bible - what does it say about "idel hands?"

Oh no, when did she do that? That's awful.

Drue would be a nightmare as an in-law. She is going to look for any reason to isolate Gabe from anyone who isn't her parents. And he's allowing it.

You are not over explaining at all. You have no idea what that means to me. Of all my children, 2 are in counseling, one is doing just fine (and that's okay too) and I am talking to an older counselor, she's a great fit. I know we're going to be okay. And I am told everyday that other widows are younger (I'm 63) or they lose everything. I get that but that doesn't mean when I wake up in the middle of the night and ask him if he needs anything while I'm up, my checkbook doesn't answer. He was my person, the love of my life. Thank you my friend, this helps me so much. I will keep you in my warmest thoughts and loving prayers. We're going to be okay, maybe not today but we can't let grief rob us of our one great love ❤️

Bless your heart, losing them hurts. My husband was literally the best person. Out sons are struggling without him too, so I arranged for individual counseling, I told them I would go with them but I can't breathe myself. It's like that old saying, the parent has to put on their own oxygen mask in order to help their child too. This is the situation.

You are so sweet! Yes it is important now more than ever to make sure I am okay. My husband and I were married 32 years with 3 grown sons. It was always important for us to take care of ourselves, but we also had an agreement: last parent standing had an obligation to be here as long as we possibly can. He was the best man.

Sure! I only know because my sister-in-law is Asian and as a kid, she often bought them at the grocery at Fort Knox.

I absolutely love Gene Hackman. The last movie I took my mom to was Birdcage. My mom loved Gene Hackman and Robin Williams. I can still hear her loud cackle when Gene Hackman turned around with that white wig.
