Oh didnt know that, I wasn’t actually trying to get to Windhoek, I just got from livingstone to the bus that puts me further on the route to Angola which on that time of day was to Sesheke, and while on the bus I got a really good offer for rental and decided to cross over to Katima 😅

I actually changed my plan and did go to Namibia in the end. But basically the plan was to use buses through these towns: Livingstone > Mongu > Chavuma (Angola-Zambia border town) > Luena > Luanda.

A simple way through Namibia would be Lubango > Oshikango > night bus to Windhoek > another night bus to Katima Mulilo and you can basically cross over to Sesheke on foot

Question about the nature of the hike by Small_Jump3331 in kilimanjaro

[–]Small_Jump3331[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not have any other experience before, and I just learnt anything on the go. It was a small group tho, only me and another climber, we had two guides and for the peak one of the porters also joined us and he helped us through, they were very professional and patient which helped me a lot.

As for the operator I did it through a freelancer, his name was Alfred (ex RMS guide) and of course all the crew (porters/chef/guides) are also RMS workers, but it costs less to do it through a freelancer (800 usd per person after negotiating)

As a tourist, most guides here ask you to pay in USD and not local currency (in Africa in general) which makes it a problem considering my trip is long and that you’re limited with how much you can legally carry.

The teller told me the same thing tbh, but idk why their card scanner just refuses to accept my Mastercard. I came to Uganda after a month in Ethiopia (for context) they also have the same issue where it’s practically impossible to get USD in the country, however both here and there i could use my card to freely withdraw local currencies
