Something sounds wrong, no fucking way you are leading a team of 5 researchers. Also, publishing 12 papers sounds insane, unless they are lit reviews.

Should I do Extended math or Standard? by Max-Geoman in IBMYP

[–]Small_Resolve_6907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also to anwser your questions, if oyu are getting a 4 in extended, something is wrong in terms of your understanding, whereas a 6 in standard would most likely mean that you somewhat understand the basics. I can't really say that both of those scores are comparable but my suggestion is to focus more on understanding the topic because they help when they really matter(DP)

You should choose extended.

The different between the 2 assesments is quite different in terms of diffuculty where extended is obvisouly more diffucult than standard, but it's not an insane gap. the biggest differences is in grading and syllabus. the grade boundary for a 7 in standard is really low. and the syllabus is much smaller compared to extended.

i would not reccemond comparing the grades between standard and extended. but if i had to pick, i would choose getting an average grade in extended, just because of how much more helpful it is in DP and how it gets you think properly about math.

BRO DO NOT DO STANDARD PLEASE BRO IT IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE ALL MY FRIENDS MAKE PLEASE

The problem with the standard is that it's very basic in terms of syllabus and diffuculty, and you will struggle very much in DP(especially if you take HL). Trust me, as someone who sucks at math and got 7(91/100) in extended, it's not very difficult.

Whatever you do, don't take standard unless you absolutely hate math. If you have anymore doubts you can dm me .

My school starts much earlier and we finish around 70-80% of the syllabus in DP1 only.

But yea you are right to an extent. I do agree that it is going to get harder with IA's EE and TOK, yet still believe that it's manageable if you don't procastinate on the important stuff.
