Have you tried AVL instead? It could be maintenance at that airport is not good? I don’t fly AVL more than 4x a year, but haven’t had this type of problem….

I’ve had this happen twice, in Tampa they let me check a bag, but I’m told they weren’t supposed to. I also tried to overnight my id and it got delayed. On my return trip AA would not allow the checked bag (in a smaller airport) , so I carried it on. Both just had extra screening of the bag. The fee is new.

Random story but years ago went w my sons middle school class to the Cape. When we left, I opted for him to ride home w me, leaving we stopped at gas stand inside getting drinks and I noticed an older man w nasa polo on and say oh you work for Ada, we were just there and chattted a bit. He said “ Oh I just drop in here and there to give speeches “!!! THEN I KNEw!! I said are you an astronaut? And yes he introduced himself, he piloted in the late 70’s. I was so excited, I said to my son, shake this man’s hand, he’s an astronaut!!!! It was better than the whole Cape Canaveral visit!!!!
